The motion sensor outdoor lights sound like a great idea. I just saw some on QVC that were solar powered for a set of four.
Sorry for the delayed reply gents, I have been working 6 days a week, 12 and 13 hours a day. When I crawl thru the door it's lights out. The madness ends in 2 weeks.
I already have a 12 gauge shotgun. But my NuBee question that night and now is should I choose more power or MANY more rounds(G23) in the case of multiple attackers
Plz elaborate.
Thank you!

I understand what you mean govnor. I was ready to call them at any moment. I'm sure you saw in my above post that I was sitting in the dark with my weapon and phone.
It never occurred to me that I could call 911 for people whistling. They had not done anything (that I could see or prove) "criminal" yet. All I could see was darkness. If I would have seen them in my back yard I would have called right away.
What you have said does give me a good reason to re-think my actions that night.
I am here to learn and get constructive feed back like yours.
I guess suspicious noises would have been sufficient for the 911 operator to send out a squad car in hind sight. I was (incorrectly) thinking that a known crime had to be witnessed first.

Are the mountable lights easy and fast to take off? I have only 1 handgun and it is the one that I use for CHL carry. Any measurements need to be taken?
So if it just kind of slips on or off then great. Or should I start thinking about a 2nd handgun or mounting a light on my 12gauge?
I'm talking about on and off almost 7 days a week.
Thanks in advance.

Well gents I ordered my Trijicon night sight set today. It should arrive at the shop in about a week and they will call me.
The gun smith told me to just drop off my slide and I would have it back the very same day.
I've received practical info from you guys. I've already received my Infidel IWB holster which was one of a few suggestions and it is great.
While I was there I bought another new Glock- made 13 round magazine, and a box of Federal 165gr hydra shocks.
I picked up 2 small, dark, regular flashlights as well.
Now to find out how to get some night sight work done on my HD 12gauge if possible and to look more into lights specifically for my G23.
I'm doing things one step at a time to keep rookie mistakes at a
minimum.
I am not exaggerating when I say that I cannot see my hands, gun or sights in my house at night with all of the lights off. If I stand directly in front of the back door there is light but I'm not standing in front of any doors in a dangerous situation.
I wonder how many other armed and innocent citizens will run into this problem when it's too late
Thank you all so much for all of your help and info. I am well on my way.

I had to stop by ole Wally for a few things anyway. I'll stop by after the gun shop.
Great ideas for lights. I want to start out with a good hand-held version first. Now the idea of throwing a light source for a distraction and illumination makes sense to me. But, I'm still thinking that if I turn on a light and some thug is in the dark, didn't I just give him an advantage(I'm refering to a light, mounted or not)?
But again LEOs have used this method successfully for decades. Of coure they have the training and instructions for these types of scenarios.
Thanks!

Well I have a slim mini maglite flashlight that gives off a stromg beam for such a little guy.
While I'm at the gun shop I will see what they have to offer in lights for Glocks. From the phone conversation I understand mountable lights will have to be mostly ordered because most lights are not kept in stock.
In my brand new June 2007 copy of Guns and Ammo is an article entitled "cleaning house". It's amazing that they talk about cover vs. concealment and everything else but never a light attached or hand-held. But yet in the real world LEOs use flashlights all of the time. Go figure?????
Well I'm just going to start with the night sights for now and I have a flash light right be side my G23.
So what is the consensus? Is a light helpful or dangerous for HD
I assume that there is an appropriate circumstance to use the light and dangerous times when they should be kept off. I just do not know up from down yet until I can digest more info.
My next project will be to do something about my HD 12gauge needing some sight illumination if possible. The front sight is just a blade.
Thanks!
Nubee!

Thanks gents
I have already Googled and searched a few Glock forums and it looks like the Trijicon tritium is the best way to go for now. This will be a great start for a novice anyway.
I have decided to stop by my local gun shop tomorrow and get this done. Why wait???? I was told that it would take about a week for me to get my slide back.
This incident took me by surprise totally and is a lesson learned in "you just never, ever know when the poop may hit the fan". So never get caught without your boots.

Thanks again guys.
I have just telephoned a couple of gun shop/ ranges and I can have tritium, Trijicon tritium or Meprolights, etc installed between $100.0 and $200.0 depending on what make or model is finally chosen.
Can someone with hands on knowledge please recommend a specific (brand name, model number)set of nightsights for me.
Do any of the aftermarket nightsights interfere with holstering??
Hey, I'm a Nubee so I have to ask.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the speedy info guys.
My rookie thinking was to keep the lights off so that I would not create a they can see me but I can't see them scenario if someone was peeping thru windows. Of course I have learned that this puts my gun in the dark as well.
Also I thought that I would have the element of suprise on my side, not theirs, by me sitting in the dark with my telephone and G23.
Is it true that tac-lite/lasers do or can interfere with the proper cycling of a semi-auto
I'm going to price some tac-lite/laser now. Thanks.

Scary! My G23 needed Night Sights.
Hi all!
I had a scary situation the night before last when the dogs next door started barking, I hear a noise next to the house and I see some young kid with a white tank-top walking away, and down the street. This happened about 12:15 in the morning when I was getting ready for bed as I had fallen asleep on the couch.
I get my G23 and sit in the dark I can still hear dogs barking in homes around me and different guys whistling back and forth to each other. Maybe just kids playing but why next to my house and this time of tne morning.
As I am sitting on the couch, kind of nervous, I notice that I cannot even see my sights or even my gun at all. So then my nervous level increases because every gun range "expert" or gun-magazine "expert" has warned about the dangers of "point shooting" or "spray and pray".
Thank God nothing bad ever happend that night after staying awake until almost 2am because I just was not sleepy at all and this whistling and dogs barking went on for at least 25 minutes.
But this realization that my G23 and 12 gauge HD shotgun are SIGHTLESS in the dark. This is a huge hadicap in my opinion. There is some light from the outside that comes inside but not enough to illuminate my sights.
I started this thread to inform, and warn others. Also inorder to get some advice about the best way to correct this HORRIBLE HANDICAP.
Does your HD configuration have night sights?????
Thanks in advance!!
