bringing this back up from the dead....a change in job, and in gun as well as my CHL finally coming in has all happened, no longer am I on my feet, facing the general public, having to worry about someone seeing it print in the least. now I work in IT, in a deeep dark hallways that nobody visits and nobody cares ;) it's much more forgiving in concealing too ;) only have to have the shirt tucked when going upstairs to see execs and, in the week since my CHL came in, I can say I've learned a lot in how something is still concealed even if you may think it isn't.
I've switched the 5" XD40 out for a Para 14.45 Expert 1911, and, well, I've gotta say, still hiding a full frame pistol, and it's surprisingly easy...on top of that...I've got a local leatherworker making me a custom IWB holster for it plus a spare mag...I'll have it in a couple days...
now just waiting to deal with the HR situation at work...(head of HR swears it's against the rules, but the rules in black and white says "non-licensed possession of a firearm", it's being reviewed currently, I expect the thumbs up soon) once that's done, I'll get to the point where my sidearm doesn't leave my side.....
oh, and, unfortunately, with the new gun, also goes the potential for kydex holsters, I don't want to scuff up the finish on my pistol...

Re: Needing a holster for dress attire
I'm really liking the look of that Air Marshal 3....
May have to do that one...
I'm contemplating one of those IWB's but...I'll have to find a friend with one and try it first...

Re: Needing a holster for dress attire
Ok, let me throw a few replies out here...
1. I've looked at the crossbreed holsters, and fail to understand how you successfully tuck a shirt in with something that's clipped to the inside of your belt...clarification/pictures would be awesome.
2. Sorry for how this is going to sound, but, a different pistol isn't going to happen. I don't like shooting compact or subcompact pistols. They aren't comfortable to me, nor do I really feel the need to spend even more on another pistol after I'm dropping nearly $600 to replace the 4" xd40 that was stolen last weekend. The question was solutions for concealing this one, not "what gun should I go buy and then still have to conceal it".
3. Any experience with stuff like the 5.11 holster shirts or similar setups?
4. Gun belt: just a nice rigid and strong belt, correct? If so, I've got it covered. 99% of the time I wear a condor brand "rigger's belt" and it's a 1.75" wide by approximately 0.125" thick nylon belt. It's strong enough I've used it as a rappelling harness, so, I'm not worried there...
Thanks for the replies and not a lot of "use the search" or "google is your friend" type replies...it goes a long way toward making a newcomer feel welcome.

Needing a holster for dress attire
First, let me apologize for yet another "hey, help me find (X product) for my (insert firearm)" thread.
That said, I've got an XD40 5" that I need to be able to conceal under business professional attire, minus the jacket.
I've looked into the IWB holsters, but, with the requirement that the shirt be fully tucked in, I don't think they'll work, as it'd bunch up the shirt where the firearm is, and make it even more noticeable...
Thanks in advance for the advice and guidance...
