I sent one of my mini 14's to a gunsmith for a new barrel and trigger job. Sent it USPS insured with delivery confirmation. The firearm must be returned to the same address it was sent from. The lady at the League City post office verified the regs, made me a copy of the regs for me, and handled it nicely. Right around 15 bucks to ship. No FFL required.

If you decide to ship a firearm USPS, you might receive some runaround about a form to fill out. You only have to fill out the form if you are a manufacturer.
