The security system might not have been a monitored system.

Even if it was not monitored it should have alerted them to the intruders. Even if a moitored system call-out feature is somehow defeated, the installed audible alarms should have been activated. My neighbors know when I test mine.

I test all of the sensors when I test our system. All windows and doors. The alarm company reads off the test record of the sensors to me when I test the system. Their monitoring system can see when I open and close each window and door.

We arm ours every night in the stay mode. What good is an alarm system if it is not used? If the victim's system had been armed I doubt if the intruders would have stuck around.
