Re: October Applications

What was the actual name of your offense? Was is reckless driving?
yep! And it carries a 1 year max imprisonment penalty but I was only fined $475, which solidifies the fact that it is a class C. I knew I was in trouble when I bought that MC!
I'm guessing they will find a way to deny me but I should be able to win the appeal and therefore "force their hand". I do understand that my conduct which I regret dearly, raises some questions. After all a car is a deadly weapon. However, it happened 2 year and a half ago in NE and my driving has been perfect since, my license is valid and am able to purchase firearms for home and car defense.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programing: Lady: you're totally fine. Just call to check but don't mention the missing form. If you do, the operator will be able to cut the conversation short and tell you they will update your status when they get/find it. I would tell them I'm over 70 days and not mention anything about my status online. Hopefully, the person you talk to will contact the worker in charge on your application, ask what's up and hopefully speed things up a little bit. :patriot:

Re: October Applications

They are indeed class C. One is 5 year old AND I did the diversion program for it. I researched the matter thoroughly and talked to two different lawyers. I enclosed detailed information on both charges. I do understand that those events and the fact that I became a US citizen recently present a liability issue. However, I am able to purchase firearms with no issues.
The guy I had on the phone told me: " your application has been moved to our legal department and will be more likely denied... you can't obtain a permit with a class A or B misd." to which I replied I know, both are class C. He paused for a while and I asked him if they were going to be able to make a decision within 90 days. He replied : " no, No, NO lol

I have a lawyer on speed dial and he told me that since I called them they would send me a letter pretty soon if my app is denied. In that case, I will just send him the letter and let him go to work. So to those who have been waiting 60 days plus... call! It still says that their turnaround time is 60 days. If I could do it all over again, I would of course have ridden in a safe manner but I should have applied in FL or AZ: cheaper and faster. I'll keep you guy posted.

Re: October Applications

I was able to get another human being on the line after 35 min. Unfortunately, because of two moving violations I had my application is being reviewed by the "legal department" and will most likely be denied. There is no time frame when you application is sent there so waiting would be a waste of time for me. Ironically this makes thing easier. I had sought legal advice before applying and was told that everything would be kosher so I may appeal the decision or wait another year or maybe apply in FL.

ladyl: you should called , just make sure you got good reception and enjoy the music lol

Re: October Applications

Mine was received on the 14th Oct and I got my first update last Friday. Its really taking a while. Once you get a update its like two days later it shows mailed. Well thats the way mine went lol
Yeah that's what I thought! Congrats :thewave
I couldn't resist and checked my status today. Nothing since 12/14. I'm on day 83 so even if my status change tomorrow, I won't be getting it by day 90. I'm going to call them.
Are most of you counting the turnaround time from the initial application (85 Days for me) or when all documents were received by DPS (71 Days) ?
my understanding is that most people are counting from the date the package was received (usually the prints are done prior), including weekends and holidays.

Re: October Applications

Everyone who's getting updates/got them, could y'all include the date they received the package? Makes it easier! My date is Oct 28th and still no update but I'm feeling like it's very close.
Prints: 10/14/2013
Application: 10/17/2013
1st update (Print pending upon application review): 12/14/2013
I haven't checked my status in a while but I haven't received anything either. I thought I was going to receive my plastic a little after Xmas but it looks like the time frame is getting worse. I wish I had done mine sooner but I am glad I'm not in the november or december waiting group. After the mailing update you have to count a least one week (on average) to get plastic in hand. At this rate I will be well over 90 days!!!!

The chance of USPS losing your package are slim to none, especially for a within state shipping/delivery. What you need to focus on is the total days count. Folks that mailed their packages 1week-2weeks before me are seeing 84-89 days turnarounds so I'm hoping for next wednesday (90 days) next week I will be getting my plastic. Also some people get their 1st update pretty late but then receive the mailed notification 1-2 days later, while some guys like me can wait well over a month for their second update! Frankly, I'm so frustrated that I have stopped practicing my draws and dry firing.

Re: October Applications

:iagree: I did the prints on 10/14 and they received my forms on 10/17, I did get a "background/print under review update" after 58 days but saw that some people that applied in september just received their plastic after 87-89 days. I'm done checking for status updates, it will get here when it gets here and from the looks of it , mid january sounds like a realistic deadline. Merry Christmas.

Re: October Applications

Congrats guys. I can't wait for it to be over! For the amount of $$ they are asking, the system could be a little more efficient! I'm thinking that they can keep up with the chronological order when the volume is low. When they apps are piling up, agents, probably just grab a pile and head to their desks, the most anal ones probably look at the postage but most just start from the top.
I just became a US citizen in September and had my share of "youthful exuberance" mistakes myself so my envelope had to be thicker than most and I'm surprised I received an update sooner than some guys and girls here! Having lived in five states at more than 10 different addy, a major traffic violation and one night in jail, I'm not surprised that I haven't receive any updates since last saturday. I'm now sitting at 64 days waiting for a license printing/mailed notification. Hopefully the weekend after xmas which should coincide with my Milt Sparks Rigs delivery. Furthermore, the wait is not all bad. It allows me to take the time to reflect on the huge responsibilities that CHLers have and contemplate the dangerous situations in which I will decide not to draw my weapon. The rest of the time is spent making sure my firearms are clean and minty fresh by applying generous amount of Frog Lube.
Hang in there boys and girls. The wait is long right now but with the correct attitude, training and education, you will be able to hang to your license for a lifetime!

Re: October Applications

Congrats Bozz.
Hopefully mine will update to manufacturing pending this weekend and I should receive it around this time next week. 69 days.... Ouch. That s what I get for not sending my app on September 1st. If they don't hire more people the November wait is going to make us feel a lot better.

Re: October Applications

I was doing pretty good until guys that I had applied around the 9th-11th started receiving their license. Now I'm anxious. I'm anticipating a manufacturing pending tomorrow am since the site is 2days late and hopefully plastic in hand on Saturday... That would be 65 days. I could always get the license before the update since I live in Austin. I guess it will depends on their mail schedule. I'm also waiting for some holsters and belts from milt sparks so it helps.

Re: October Applications

Ok boys and girls. Good news! They are now on the 3rd week. I was reading infoman's post about the website taking 1-2 days to catch up and although I checked my status 3 times yesterday, I decided to check it at 6 am this morning. After 58 days with no updates whatsoever, my status switched to print pending upon completion of background check. :anamatedbanana
My prints were done on 10/13 and I mailed my forms 10/16. USPS told me they would get there the next day. Perfect timing since I off Friday and Saturday next week
