Considering the relatively short recovery time, that doesn't seem to give you much of a head start. IMO, Tasers are only good if you have backup or a gun to use if the BG doesn't get the message and back off.

They make a model that sticks into the target and shocks him for 30 seconds while you presumably escape.
So you have to leave the taser there to provide power to the probes for the 30 sec.? Seems like the BG could then gather it up and come after you with it and use it on you.

In my case, not very far.

But it would give me time to draw my gun.

Tasers have another drawback in my view. As soon as you turn the power off, the BG recovers. (I'm just going by what I have seen on "Cops" here.)

This is fine if you have backup, where someone can cuff the BG while the other holds the taser as a threat. (i.e. "Cooperate or I'll zap you again.") But for someone alone it would be a problem.

OC spray has somewhat of a lasting effect, for a few minutes at least. So the idea would be to spray the BG and then use the time where he can't see too well and is in pain to run away.

At least that's how I see it.

Return to “Tazer carry?”
