There's a lot to be learned from analyzing true-to-life accounts of gunfights. I found Ayoob's column referenced above quite interesting.
Fictional accounts do not have the same educational value, IMO. Watching Clint take out multiple BG's in a diner is entertaining, but doesn't hold much of value for the CHLer.

Just an update. So far, 3 friends from RI/MA area have responded to my query. No one has heard or seen any news reports about a pharmacy robbery in Worcester with 4 dead.
It's not all that big a place. News travels fast. Tough to keep a lid on a shootout like that. It seems to me that someone should have heard something by now.

No need to prove the story false.WildBill wrote:I don't know how this will end. You can't prove that it didn't happen just because you can't find anything in the news. There is always a chance that it wasn't reported or you didn't see it. What evidence would you need to prove that the story is false other than for HEMIzygote to admit that he made it up?
When something is asserted, it is up to the person making the assertion to offer evidence in support.
In the absence of evidence, unconfirmed claims are just that - unconfirmed claims.

Not correct. I lived in nearby RI for 50 years. The occassional self defense shooting is certainly reported on local TV and in newspapers.Mike1951 wrote: I can't decide whether the report is factual. But I can believe that in Mass. any self defense shooting would be completely squelched, since they don't want the public to get any ideas about protecting themselves.
Sometimes the reporters put a bad slant on it, but trust me when I tell you that when you have dead bodies on the ground there is no way it will be hushed up.
4 people killed in a retail establishment is big news in MA or anywhere else in the country.
BTW, some of my old pals from RI/MA have started to email me back. No one has heard Word One about this "incident" reported in any news outlet whatsoever - local or national.

I found some too but none that listed 4 dead. So I couldn't find a match.Kalrog wrote:Just to remind everyone... I *DID* find several news stories about self defense in a pharmacy for things that happened on Wednesday. But I don't know if any of them were about HZ. And since nobody else has found anything about any of them, that really does say that there is a lot going on out there that we don't normally hear about.
