Well, I was pretty sure we'd won this [very dubious] distinction.

Now that you've bumped this old thread, maybe we'll find out now fer sher.

Re: October Applications

My online status finally changed and now shows "Application Pending". This exactly 6 months and one day since I applied.

So what do I win? Can anyone beat this for bad luck? I probably shouldn't count my chickens--the CHL is not here yet!!!! :evil2:

Actually, today 4/12 it has finally arrived. Six months and four days.

Re: October Applications

My wife's CHL arrived in the mail today, over 5 months after the last of the info was completed (the FAST).

My own application is still in limbo apparently despite numerous efforts to shake the trees over there at DPS! No updates since January. :banghead:

Re: October Applications

After fully 5 months, and 3 or 4 contacts with DPS attempting to "shake the trees", our applications are still not complete, though at least my wife's got updated the other day for the very first time (!) so it seems they may finally be working on them.

I've found it VERY DISAPPOINTING that the October applicants who were apparently victimized by an overload of the computerized (online) application system have not been given priority to resolve and complete.

When I call them make you feel like an idiot for even bothering them. it is ridiculous how dysfunctional this dept is. I am not sure what my options are, other than to wait...because that is essentially what they tell you to do when you call. Any suggestions on what I should do next?
Both my and my wife's applications are still not fulfilled and apparently we both fell-into the October computer problems someone said they had.

What fries my bacon is that despite that we have both resubmitted our information for handling, there is no "special consideration" that I can see with respect to getting our applications completed.

What a PIA.

Slobber both myself and my spousal unit are still waiting. In my case they lost/overlooked my CHL-100 submittal and so I had to send it in again. In my wife's case her application is still in un-updated i.e. "waiting on requested materials" status and although I assume this is for the same problem I had (failure to use the UPLOAD button properly thus the CHL-100 doc became electronically separated from the original application submission) she has not followed-up with the DPS so dunno what's wrong exactly yet.

Re: October Applications

Regarding my missing "Proof of Classroom/Proficiency Training" update:
JR's 12 Valve wrote:Tom, one more thing that most folks overlook:

When resubmitting your documents online, after you select your pictures (documents) to upload, you must hit the UPLOAD button before you hit submit. That will (most likely) guarantee that your documents will be saved to the email that you will be sending to the DPS.
JR I had indeed made the "upload" mistake (10/6) that probably everyone makes (!) but corrected it two days later (10/8) when a DPS email said "you didn't Upload anything".

So I called this morning and got a very nice woman who said she couldn't tell from the record whether the CHL-100 was Incomplete or Missing or had an Error on it, but then she stayed on the phone while I emailed my CHL-100 directly to her personal email address. She said the doc looked good and that she was forwarding it to a supervisor for fixing my record, and to give them 10-15 business days before expecting an update. The phone call, after waiting maybe 10mins, took only a minute or two and I would rate the DPS person's handling of my call as Excellent.

It does cause me to wonder-if-not-believe that my improper (this UPLOAD button thing) first submission was grabbed-and-acted-upon by a DPS rep and the subsequent one with the CHL-100 two days later either hadn't been gotten-to or otherwise was ignored by them. This might be the root cause of a lot of these submission problems.

Re: October Applications

Thanks guys, I had assumed because the website said they could be "emailed" (though actually, meaning their web-based request/doc submittal method) that scanned docs would be OK, but wasn't sure if I could be held-up still by instructor error or something. I'd asked this question before and never got or saw an answer to it (and don't recall discussing submission AT ALL at the CHL class). Honestly I would only very reluctantly send-in the original anyway, not trusting they wouldn't lose it!

I guess I will [try to] contact them by phone about this.

Re: October Applications

Does anyone here know the answer to the bolded question regarding the CHL-100?
TomsTXCHL wrote:A few posts up I complained about "no progress" but now I see an update! But the screen has red X's

X Proof of Classroom training : Not received, notice sent to applicant
X Proof of Proficiency training : Not received, notice sent to applicant

I did include with my original application the CHL-100 with Instructor's # and signature, a document that I scanned to a PDF file and sent online.

1. Why might it say this--does the Instructor have to send something to them also, or do they need an Original of the document?

2. The above says "notice sent to applicant" but of course I have no emails from them--should I expect something in the USPS?

Any advice is welcome, thanks.

Jweaver wrote:I am an October applicant. I mailed mine off on October 12th. I don't think holloween counts as a holiday so I'm going to say this is the fourth holiday during my application. Waiting on background check that shows to have started on January 12th
My application was made on-line on 10/6, and went to Austin FAST facility for fingerprinting on 10/24, and still no updates of any kind at all for me.

I wonder if the problem is that the DPS has to do extra work to find my FAST data and link it with my application or something. Does anyone here know about this?

I'd submitted an on-line request in November asking if they had everything, and all I got back was "we submitted your inquiry to a specialist" and never heard back from them again.

Slobber wrote:I feel DPS could do a better job letting people know what is going on.
D'ya think?

I would love to see something that says we have xxxx number of applications received and you are number xxxx so you could at least see progress. I know it is not first come first serve so that would not really work. If they did that, they could work more on applications and less in phone calls. Not that they are answering them at all. Also the application process online is not very clear and leaves you wondering if you did it right. I feel like I am at wal-mart and the person in front of me is having to get a price check with the slowest checker in the store.
Agree with everything you said. I applied 10/6 though my FAST wasn't complete til 10/24 and I can't get any feedback that my application is even on their to-do list. I wonder if I can get the charge to my credit card reversed after 90 days???

UPDATE- I uploaded my documents again and called (hold for 20 minutes) and the gentleman first told me that they were still waiting on documents and that it may still be too soon. I told him that there are people that submitted in early Nov. and already have updates. He then said, let me check the inbox to see if your upload from today is there. Found them and said he would forward them to a specialist. Not sure what happened to my original docs but at least I MAY be rolling now. :totap:
Not to rain on your parade or anything, but I was told "forwarded to a specialist" two months ago after I asked "can you tell me please if you have everything you need from me?" and never heard from them again.

For me, 82 days from FAST and my status has never changed from "waiting on requested materials". :???:

Wow, scary stuff TBJK!

OK I'll update my status: applied online 10/6, can logon and see "waiting for requested materials" after a day or two, then fingerprinted via FAST on 10/24, and to this date still have no change in my status.
