I've been looking at getting a 3d plastic printer. I have been playing around with openscad & designed some light pods for my Jeep. The patent on 3D printing metal runs out in 2014. I am scouring kickstarter every day to see if someone will come out with a 3D metal printer. I missed the 3D Laser printer on kickstarter because they were sold out (over $1 million in sales) in the first HOUR. I have a 3D plastic printer and it is great. I can make holsters, gun grips, and flowers for Valentine's day. However, it cannot make a durable gun because the barrel and bolt will have to be metal. Besides, Sen. Steve Israel passed that law banning 3D printed plastic guns.
