Re: San Antonio Road Tax Hike

Rokyudai: First ticket in 17 years? Wow. Just so you know, you can usually take defensive driving and get the ticket dropped. I think the usual limit is 10 over, but if you appear and say it's your first ticket in 17 years, I'm sure they would cut you some slack. pbwalker: Have you been checking for...

Re: San Antonio Road Tax Hike

The best form of protection in most situations is not to place yourself in position where you can be affected. Driving the speed limit, avoiding the bad parts of town, ect. This is why we CHLers realize the need to avoid situations where we may have to use our protection, why we obey the laws, and ...

San Antonio Road Tax Hike

Has anyone else noticed a serious increase in the presence of police on 281 / 35 / 10 in San Antonio? I have lived here for a few years and almost never saw a cop on the main roads until 3 months ago. Now it seems like there's at least 5 on any given highway from south SA to north 1604. Are we witne...

I have thought about this for a while, and I think my response would be "Why, would you like to go and shoot at the range?"

Oh yeah. If you don't have a gunbelt, go over to thebeltman.net and order one. My poor belt of 10 years is sagging horribly under the strain of a glock 26. I believe the wait is currently around 3-4 weeks from order to delivery. Wish I ordered one when I was waiting for my CHL.

I have heard Bexar county isn't fast. My background check was in Travis and Bexar, so I assume that Travis county was the holdup. Bexar could have been slow also though.

From what I have heard, it seems there ARE a few factors that may take you out to 60 days. 1. Certain counties are slow about doing the background check. Travis county for example. 2. If you have lived in multiple counties in the past 5 years, that increases your chances of one of the counties takin...

I think the delay is due to the local background checks done by the local PD. It's not the CHL department.

kryten: The last member to get their CHL in austin took 54 days mailbox to mailbox. I sent mine in 4/10 and mine is still "Processing".

tfrazier: Judging by the past few to get their CHL in the Dallas area, you will have your CHL before both kryten and me.

4 weeks today. From the recent flurry of quick approvals lately, I figure I'll either be approved by this Friday, or it will take the full 60 days.
