Re: January 2014
We sent ours certified mail with tracking. They were received two days after we sent them. (We also made copies. Our CHL instructor insisted upon it.)

Re: January 2014
I know they got mine because I sent it Certified Mail with tracking. I wonder if they reply only to apps sent via email.

Re: Walmart 22lr
I was fortunate enough to find over 2500 .22 cartridges in my father-in-law's gun cabinet after he passed away. And found three more boxes in the laundry room cupboard last week. Most are .22LR but there are a few boxes of .22 WMR and one 100 count brick of shorts. I only have two .22LR rifles and o...

Re: January 2014
I'm guessing the time difference between email submission and snail mail is minimal in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Mailing documents vs emailing them
I would hate to delay processing by sending duplicate documents: email and snail mail, but I have certainly considered it.

Universal Cry for help for nearby CHLs
A post in another thread got me to thinking. If you were in a large crowd situation (parade, street fair, pre-game tailgating, Saturday afternoon WalMart parking lot) and trouble came your way, wouldn't it be nice to yell out a verbal signal that would bring other CHL holders running to assist you? ...

Mailing documents vs emailing them
I just mailed our (bride's and mine) documents to the CHL office today. Following the recommendation of our CHL instructor, I mailed them separately, certified mail. But I am wondering how many people are now scanning the docs and attaching the files to emails to send them in to DPS in Austin. And i...

Re: .22 Revolver Recommendation for Lady
I would recommend the Ruger LCR. It is available in .22LR, and the same size revolver is available when you upgrade to a .38 or .357. I know you are asking about a .22, but I cannot seriously recommend one for self defense. Upgrade to a .38 Special or 9mm minimum as soon as she is proficient with t...

Re: CHL came with wrong picture.
Years ago, when my son was in college, he had to renew his passport for a school trip to Europe. The passport came back with a photo of a black guy who was a member of the school group. My son is a pale blonde guy. We thought it was pretty funny but I have no idea how it could have happened. Human e...

Re: Advice: Wife won't carry
Going through something similar with my bride of almost 40 years. We have always had a few guns in the house. I took her to the range many years ago when I bought my first gun: SW Model 10 .38. She moves it to her night stand when I'm out of town. She knows how to use the double barrel 16 gauge shot...

And..... GO! Hi. New Member here. My bride and I took our CHL classes last Saturday. Jan 4. Fingerprint appointment Monday Jan 13. We are eligible for the 'rural area' fingerprint exclusion but did not want the extra delay of having to send off for the fingerprint kit and wait to receive them in the...
