I went with the nano 200 gun vault. It did its job while we were in Nueva Progresso, Mexico.
those $15.00 pack of 5 Esplendido Cuban cigars are fake.

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
I know the previous were kidding, they were not prior to that. Uninformed people are dangerous, not Mexico:
44 gun related homicides in Chicage, 2013
1 in Nueva progresso, Mexico since 2009
Still waiting for the CHL since Dec. 20th.

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
This has got to be a group of trolls, the people saying "don't go to Mexico with guns". I never, ever said that. My question was how folks stored a pistol while in Mexico.
I get it: don't take a gun to Mexico.
I bought the Nano 200. It fits my LC9 like a glove. ≈$32.00 online, looks like it will work great while PARKED IN TEXAS..............

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
Thanks for the offer, but theres only room for two in our pickup.
I bought the nano200, that's what I'm using while parked in Progresso.
I'll answer why anyone would go to Mexico: it's a great experience. Being there is exciting. the goods they have are $$$. what a variety of stuff! Cuban cigars, OH! Mexican plates, my wife loves to buy them. Silver for next to nothing. curious of every kind. The people bend over backwards to help. The American senior citizens out number the younger Texans.
ANYTHING YOU WANT!!!!
I plan to shop for a holster. I know they have them, but I only remember big gawdy revolver units. I'm hoping for a IWB that fits my LC9.
We're never afraid, but always on guard. Was that enough?

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
It looks like the nano vault is my best option. I've never had a problem parking in the progresso, Texas lot and crossing the bridge on foot. I drive the "backway" from South Padre Island to Nueva Progresso, and want my pistol with me.
Thank you, RJGOLD. I'm going with the nano vault!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
Sorry to go off. Not everyone believed that I was driving into Mexico with a gun.
I was hoping to hear about others experience concerning handgun storage while out in a vehicle where a gun is prohibited, without a lock box (other than the glove box), not wanting to hand it off to a pawn shop, bank or anyone else. I'm going with locked in the glove box in TEXAS THEN WALKING OVER THE BRIDGE INTO MEXICO.
Sorry to be a bother..........

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
Really people? I have zero intentions of driving my truck into Mexico, especially with a gun.
I only tried to find out what others do in a similar situation. I WILL park on the Texas side, there is a big parking lot at the Nueva Progresso bridge, TEXAS SIDE. REALLY?
This is what I said two days ago: Thanks fellers, that's more option than I had at 4:49 this morning. Definately not crossing the water w/gun, definately bringing on the trip (provided I have my CHL by April??!!).
Yea, you must have a passport to cross. You can get in, but you're going to have trouble getting back.

Re: PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
I'm not afraid of Nueva Progresso, Mexico, the deals are too good to pass up. We did stop going to Matamoros, I must admit. We have this theory: go early, the bad guys aren't up yet. I see senior citizens there every trip.
I plan to lock the pistol in the glovebox. No one has commented on that method.

PISTOL STORAGE WHILE ON VACATION?
We will be on South Padre Island for a week. The motel only has a front desk safe, none in the room. We ALWAYS go to Nueva Progresso, Mexico. The wife doesn't even want me to take it, what to do?
While in Mexico, I think my only option is to lock in my trucks glovebox, which I'm a little uncomfortable with. Must I install a vehicle lock box prior to the trip?
Do people hand their guns to hotel clerks to lock up?
What if I want to swim with my wife? That means a unattended gun on the beach.
I'm awaiting my CHL. I'm new to the forum.
