Re: What are stores in Houston to sell or trade-sell firearm
Collectors Firearm's at Richmond and Fondrant. Very fair, but as stated, they are there to make money. You will come out with them as good as anyone in terms of them giving you a "fair" deal. Based on what they sell used guns for and transactions I have overheard I dought they give fair v...

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
The vote, IMO, is not that all surprising. People tend to fear what they do not understand. I grew up in a household which there were no firearms. That was "left for the police." It was not until I became an adult and LEARNED something for MYSELF and discovered that THEIR view is really th...

Re: Texas CHL Eligible or Disqualified
Yeah thanks for the advice. I have a tendency to read to far into things from time to time. I was just hoping for no hiccups or hold-ups. I have waited a long time to get my CHL and put alot of effort into turning my life around. But ultimatl i guess i should look at it like i have waited this long...

Re: Texas CHL Eligible or Disqualified
The problem i have is i have no issue submitting the info but since i had to do a drug offender program and a short 2 times a week for an hour out patient program over 10 years ago. I contacted both facilities and they only keep records for 10 years so they have no way of knowing if i was there or ...

"Any" means ANY...if you have ever had treatment for alcohol, drugs, psychiatric issues, etc. you must list it. You do not want to give them "any" reason to deny you and that would be grounds - failure to disclose.

Re: Houston Rodeo BBQ Cookoff
While that may be true about the 51% for the Corral Club (principal location) others are not designated. I work at Stockman's and there are no 51% signs at our club. Now, common sense would tell me not to carry in such a place because ALL (now that food is no longer sold there) sales are alcohol rel...

Re: Employer Wants To Know About Firearms/CHL
I disagree. And I think you meant 1(b). However, a CHL is not a protected activity. It is just not illegal to carry with a CHL. Smoking in public is not illegal, but an employer can have smoking policies. Also see this; From the CHL law, Texas Government Code 411 Sec. 411.203. RIGHTS OF EMPLOYERS. ...

Re: Employer Wants To Know About Firearms/CHL
You should certainly seek a legal opinion from a qualified labor law attorney. Without knowing exactly what your job responsibilities are, it is difficult to say, but I can't imagine that all these invasive questions are appropriate. If the lawyer says you should answer them, I would answer them acc...

Re: should we report a place to TABC?
One thing which is "clear" is that the law seldom is. The law is muddy at best. That is why we have lawyers and judges. Heck, just the interpretation and debate of some very experienced folks here affirm that. I am very much enjoying this thread. I am expanding various topics in my classes...

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
You read of them from time-to-time...I can only recall of two (if memory serves one was in a border town and the other in the northeast part of the state) but it has happened...again, here I am talking K-12. Look, school authorities have wide latitude in creating local policy. I predict it is someth...

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
Oh sorry, YES the prohibition in public school parking lots K-12 is by local school board policy, not statute. It is really a defacto prohibition however, because most school districts prohibit employees from having firearms on ANY school property except for very limited and supervised exceptions. O...

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
You can currently keep your weapon in your vehicle on public university campuses....just can't take them in the building. Yes, see point #5 in my OP. As for public schools, isn't that prohibition via school board rules for employees rather than via statute? I was referring to another post which did...
