I still wonder if the fact I have a firearm license from Massachusetts (where I just moved from) helped speed it up.

In MA, you need a license to go into a store to LOOK and touch firearms (no exaggeration); to posses ammo (live OR spent), to own mace, to store a firearm in the house, or basically to even THINK of owning a gun. OK, the last point is a slight exaggeration. Plus, MA is a MAY issue state, where it is up to the local town police chief if you get a license. SO basically, even if you pass the classes, and the background check, if the chief is against private gun ownership (which almost all are), he doesn't have to issue you a license. Plus, the AWB is still in effect along with MA only reg's on pistols which make 90% of all pistols made illegal in MA. Even current production Glocks and the like are illegal, unless they were registered by the owners (which all guns are required to be) in the state of MA prior to 1994. Used 15 year old Glocks sell for $400-$500 due to the limited supply. Plus all trigger must have a minimum 10 pound pull, so no DAK or Safe-action pistols allowed. AND, each gun has to be tested and certified by the state AG before they can be sold. So there are instances where a blue version of a pistol is legal, but the stainless version of the exact same pistol is not if the stainless was also not test.

Oh, and if he does give you a license, you can almost forget about it allowing you to carry. I think I had one of only 5 in the state that would allow me to carry.

I would think TX knowing the anti-2A restriction in the state of MA, and the fact I actually possessed a license even with all that, had to help speed up my time.

OMG! OMG! I sent in my application on 4/18. I just checked the status and it is issued! I need to run to my mailbox and see if it came (I haven't checked my mail for 2 days)!!!!

I thought where I just moved here from out of state, it would take a lot longer with the back ground check and stuff. I'm guessing maybe the fact that I had a firearms permit in MA (where I just moved from), and knowing it's almost impossible to get one in MA maybe helped me??
