I was told that they were waiting on my paperwork, and asked if I had sent it in yet.

I told her that this was the first time I had heard that. And that it was sent 60 days ago. 10 seconds later she mysteriously had my paperwork. I was then told it needed to go to data entry.

When I told her that they had 60 days to issue or deny, she told me that the 60 days starts now because they just got the paperwork. I explained that it was all sent together and that the 60 days starts when the actually get it, not when they get around to pretending they just got it.

Asked for a supervisor and was hung up on. Was polite the entire time, just refused to be lied to.
Well, maybe now that you've been told they found your paperwork you can get the ball rolling. I've tried to get through today, nothing.
Now's the time to get your state rep. involved. The only way this process is going to improve is if we make enough noise.

deadstick wrote:My wife and I have been waiting 45 and 50 days respectively with no updates. Called DPS and got the standard wait 60days response so I decided to contact my state representative. I wanted to voice my concern over the lack of communication with the whole process. At the very least they should be able to update the web status page and let you know that the documents were received and everything is in order even before they get to starting processing.

The representative replied back and said they'll look into the wait times and will also get specific information about our applications. I don't want to jump any lines I just want to know our documents are in order and everything's ready to go when they get to us. Anyway we'll see how it goes.

I don't think its a bad idea for everyone waiting to contact their state representatives to discuss the wait times and lack of communication. If everyone did it maybe "something" would be done.
^^^This. It's bad enough having to wait 60+ days for the license, but to have to wait that long just to get an update is absurd. The way I see it, at $140 a pop for the standard fee (what the majority of people will be paying), it seems like the state is making plenty of money. Enough to staff-up the CHL Division, anyways, with the volume of applications they're supposedly receiving. There's a genuine demand for it, so the state needs to respond accordingly.

I'm not going to hesitate to contact my state rep. on day 61. Luckily, my rep seems to be very solidly pro-2A. Unfortunately, not everyone is that lucky. If your rep happens to be an anti, who knows if they'll take any action at all if they're called upon.

This is exactly what my instructor told me to do, if I did not have plastic in hand within 60 days.
I have recommended this on many occasions. Everyone I know who has gone this route received an immediate response from DPS and has had plastic in hand within 10 days. DPS does not like legislative inquiries. Just make sure the rep you are contacting is pro gun.
How do you find out what rep you have? I'm only going on day 39 but just curious because 60 will be here shortly[/quote]

called today (6/17) and after 40 minutes on hold was told that currently, it can take up to 2 months for the web site status to update. I hope that means that DPS is just swamped with more applications than they know what to do with.
Sounds like the exact result I got. Was also told that they're swamped with applications. Which is a good thing, but the 60+ day wait is ridiculous in my opinion. I know the DPS has budget constraints like any other state department, but there's obviously a need for more staff here. Seems like they should make that a priority.

Re: May 2014

I wasn't going to do it, but I went ahead and called the DPS today. I had to wait about half an hour, but the person helping me was courteous. They said that they had received all of supporting documents, and that the fingerprints were good. I asked why the website hadn't updated, and he said that probably wouldn't happen until mid-July, which bears out what I've seen on here. Hopefully, it'll update the day before I get my plastic!

At least everything's good, just have to wait for it to process now.

It'll be two weeks tomorrow since I submitted my paperwork. Maybe I should try to give them a call just to make sure everything's good.
Well, scrap that idea. There's a recorded message that basically says that you shouldn't even bother to check before 30 days have passed, that none of the CHL specialists would know if they received your documents before that time.

I am new to the waiting room ...my husband and I are on the exact same schedule (classes, applications, etc all done at the same time). Here're our 'stats'....
3-22-14 Class
5-22-14 Applications (online)
5-22-14 email confirmation (barcode and checklist)
5-28-14 Fingerprints
5-28-14 Submitted all supporting documents through website (attached files)
5-28-14 email confirmation, "received supporting documents"

Did anyone have trouble with their fingerprints? I was told that my fingerprints will probably reject because they didn't scan well, he had to re-do them a couple times. My husbands scanned very well.

......and the waiting begins, I understand that patience is a virtue....especially with this process!
Welcome to the forum!

Regarding your fingerprints, I would have asked them to redo them if they were unsure if they scanned properly or not. At the place I had mine done at, there was a screen that showed sort of a "preview" of what the prints were going to look like. In fact, the person doing my prints re-rolled one of my fingers because she didn't like the way it looked.

Re: May 2014

Started online application last Wednesday, fingerprints last Friday, class yesterday. Now, I just need to scan in my CHL-100 when I return to work on Tuesday. I have a question about that; do I need to include the checklist e-mail the DPS sent to me? What about the receipt I received after I got my fingerprints done?
