I have never understood why someone would NOT want to present it. You are not doing anything wrong. You are giving him information voluntarily that will make him feel more comfortable, that can only work in your favor.

I have had two opportunities/interactions with law enforcement since getting my CHL. Both for "slightly" exceeding the speed limit. Both out of state (OK and WY). In both instances I presented my CHL. In both instances I was thanked. In both instances I received a warning vs a ticket.
