I imagine a potential shooter in a crowd will avoid the center mass, as being surrounded and conquered is likely not on their agenda. I am always wary of those going to sit at the very top, as that would be the more ideal position for a bad guy not caring about egress. A bad guy wanting to get away would likely stick close to egress points, as to disappear and escape quickly.
