Re: Thermostat with adjustable cycle rate
We have some pro1 855 stats at the school I work for and they have all kind of settings, not sure offhand if there is a minimum cycle time. I know there are cycle limits built into it though. We also had all units replaced on 2 campuses a couple years ago and several rooms have constant humidity pro...

Re: Springfield hellcat POI is off
What kind of sight picture are you using? I don't have a Hellcat, but when I got my Sig P290, I constantly shot low. Found that I was not using the correct sight picture. I was trying to use the center hold sight picture, where the top of my sights would split the target in half. I then learned tha...

Re: Springfield hellcat POI is off
Since I have determined that the left is all down to something I'm doing, what should I do to correct it? The length of your trigger isn't ideal for the length of your trigger-finger (a little too long is most common) - and/or you were snatching the trigger at the last instant to "make" t...

Re: Springfield hellcat POI is off
A trick I learned is to put a snap cap or two somewhere in the magazine. It's best to have a friend load them so you have no idea where they are. Then you can be much more aware of when and how you flinch when it occurs. It is also helpful to do that to practice clearing malfunctions. Also, are you...

Re: Springfield hellcat POI is off
Finally got in some different bullet weights to try, Shooting off a rest the left goes away so that's all me. The low is still there but probably a function of range. It is somewhat ammo sensitive in that some weights do group much better than others. So far 124 groups the best so that's probably wh...

Re: Springfield hellcat POI is off
Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to borrow a pistol rest and try some other ammo weights before I change the sights. I will probably try 20-25 yards once I get it hitting more centered. I do a fair amount of shooting with my 4.5" gun out at 30-50 yards, thats probably not going to happen mu...

Re: Springfield hellcat POI is off
The only handguns I've needed to sight in initially are revolvers. I've only had two bottom feeders that didn't shoot right out of the box. The first one is a Rock Island 1911 which had a bad barrel fitment, so the sights weren't the problem. The second is an FN that was ammo sensitive. Hotter ammo...

Re: Springfield hellcat POI is off
I know that when I shoot low left it’s usually me flinching "rlol" Seriously though, at what distance were you firing? Flinching was definitely my initial thought as well, but I've put about 100 rounds through it consistently low left. Most of my shooting has been 5-7 yards with hits roug...

Springfield hellcat POI is off
I ordered and picked up a new hellcat a few weeks ago. Right out of the box it shot low left. Made adjustments to make sure it wasn't me pushing the shots off, and when dry firing the front sight doesn't move on the trigger break. Went back out and still low left, every time I shoot it the groups ar...

Re: RDS v. Iron Sights: Not just for old blind guys
The simultaneously most hurtful/true thing I’ve heard about shooting red dot equipped pistols is “There are no more hard shots, just bad trigger presses”. OUCH! I'm looking at getting a XD 9 Service Model soon. Upgrading to RDS is high on the want list. Xdm 4.5 osp will get you a slightly longer ba...

Re: Forbus 1911 Holster
I traded for a 1911 several years ago and it came with one. Generally if I try to draw from it the entire holster leaves my belt rather than the gun leaving the holster. It is now relegated to being hung inside the safe door to hold my 1911 22lr for space saving and left there when I want to use the...

Re: GOA in court re bumpstock-ban - interesting
I personally think that bump stocks are a gimmick but they absolutely should not be considered a machine gun. I told someone at work this morning I'd be far more afraid of someone taking aimed shots every 2 seconds than someone firing indiscriminately with a bump stock.
