To me, all the justifications given above for banning CHL carry at gun shows pretty much give an irrefutable argument for repealing the CHL laws in Texas and banning any concealed carry throughout the state. If the gun community cannot trust the CHL holders in its own ranks, then it has no standing to ask the rest of the public to trust us in any venue at all.

The proper policy at a gun show is of course, CHL holders with concealed handguns keep them concealed in accordance with the law, period. You want to test fit a holster, then bring the gun to the show UNLOADED, check it in, and use your spare gun for concealed carry that day. If you pull out your loaded gun in the absence of immediate deadly threat and all that, then you should be arrested (and I would include arresting any cops patrolling the shows who tried a "test fit" as well, if any are foolish enough to do such a thing). If you are the guy at the show who claims he gets four or five guys waving loaded guns at him every show, did you ever call the cops or the show officials? If not, you are part of the problem.

I am really surprised that the anti-CHL forces have not beat us like a drum during the legislative sessions because of the 30.06 signs at the gun shows. As long as those are in place, whether they have legal force or not, there's really not a lot of reason to ask the rest of the Texas public to accept armed CHLs in their midst either.
