Re: in light of recent public education threads (long)

So here are some interesting questions not addressed in your OP 1. The charge per student ($7 per pupil per year) for the use of CSCOPE seem excessive. Why? Who agreed to allow Texas school districts to pay these charges across the State and what mechanism is available to determine the exact extent...

Re: in light of recent public education threads (long)

Are you aware of this or know which curriculum this is from? I did a quick search and found this from a few days ago. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/03/21/te" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... r-attacks/ Yes...that is the incident I referred to at Flour Bluff ISD. It has b...

in light of recent public education threads (long)

Much has been made lately on this forum about the state of public schools and how dysfunctional they are. I hear arguments about public schools and education a lot because I am an educator; and, people for whatever reason feel the need to tell me what is wrong with the industry that has been my care...

proposed bill-Texas DL identifies CHL?

I was visiting http://www.texastribune.org/session/82R/bills/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; today looking at bills that had been filed that our legislature will begin looking at in January. One of the bills proposes that a person's CHL status be identified on his driver's ...

Re: Bushmaster in Wally World

I pretty much agree with all the comments above, but what annoyed me by the whole encounter was the fact that I never asked his opinion on ANYTHING...not an AR15, not deer hunting, not the effectiveness of the .223 round nor was I trying to influence HIS opinion on anything. I merely asked if they h...

Bushmaster in Wally World

I recently noticed that a local Walmart has started selling Bushmaster AR 15s in an M4 configuration for $897. This is the first time I've seen a "black rifle" in a Wally World though I understand there are other stores that have started carrying them as well. I was in the store today duri...

Is it just me or

Has the full moon phase and the unusually high winds got east Texas deer hunting fouled up? My opening week has not been good at all. I managed to rustle up one doe on the way to the stand opening morning well before shooting hours. Other than that, I've only seen 'em on the side of the road while d...

Louisiana style seafood and CHL...mmm!

My better half and I decided to go to Dudley's in Longview recently for some boiled shrimp. We hadn't been in quite awhile, so as we approached the door, I did the obligatory scan of the entrance for any signs that would require me to disarm. My wife spotted it and pointed it out to me...on a yellow...

Re: Shimming/raising iron sights?

I don't think using shims of any kind is really an option...at least I've never heard of sights being shimmed. Usually, sights are replaced with taller ones, at least that's the way it works with pistols. Replacement sights are available for the Remington 742 from places like Midway USA or Brownells...

Re: Glocks have gone to the Pots

Which leads me to a question...What to do with your weapon in a public bathroom if you have "Duty" (or doodie :read: ) to do? If its a Glock, I would flush and get a 1911. (I know, I know...I just opened a big can of worms...) Seriously, use common sense. Advice I've heard before but woul...

Re: Speeding Ticket :(

I got one last year that was $500. Ouch! Aren't you a LEO? I gotta ask...were you on the giving end or the receiving end? In regard to the original post, CHL is not an automatic exemption from getting a ticket. With that said, my experience has been that if you're 10 mph over the posted limit or le...
