We are only talking about "open carry" right? Concealed carry I think would be different especially from a tactical standpoint . No I don't think a badge is a good idea as an identifier in open carry situations but some symbol maybe ? A badge could be mistaken for law enforcement.

Just stating an opinion here but I also don't think once you are open carrying it's so bad to carry a Texas handgun license identifier that might put the public and law enforcement at ease .
