Thanks for your perspective... as usual well informed and thoughtful. I appreciate your views and am anxious to understand all points of view in this crazy election. The Annoyed Man wrote:Yes, I did receive that guidance, and the choice became clear. But I still wasn't entirely comfortable with it until Trump's policy speech of last week, in which he clearly and succinctly stated his 100 day plan. That was about as close to a home run as Trump has hit all season. Now I'm not naive, and I know that, as often as not, plans do not survive first contact with the enemy, and if Trump wins, he'll have to deal with an antagonistic Paul Ryan as Speaker......and that may possibly derail some of his plan. But at least I now know what Trump's intentions are. He was not all that clear about it previously, and I discounted two of the three debates as being nothing more than gotcha sessions for the media, and he wasn't that specific in the third debate. And I remain somewhat troubled by Trump's personal moral issues. OTH, I admit that the lamestream media is pumping that aspect for all it's worth, because they are terrified of having to cover a Trump White House with the loss of access to which they will have condemned themselves by being so overtly partisan in their coverage. Furthermore, one of Trump's best selling points is Mike Pence. Let's see......something terrible happens to POTUS, and we can either have Pence or Kaine. That's a no-brainer. First of all, Pence is smart, honest, moral, and personable. And, Kaine is none of those things. He's not qualified to be dog catcher. For the life of me, I can't figure out how he made the ticket. It's like they went out of their way to pick some howdy-doody who wouldn't outshine Clinton, because she's so bad that she's easy to outshine. I wouldn't hire Kaine to pick up after my dog. Heck, even crazy old Uncle Joe Biden is more qualified than Kaine......and my dog is a lot smarter than Biden.dale blanker wrote:TAM, I can imagine the reasons for your vote but I would be interested in hearing them from you. By the way we voted by mail last week. Very convenient and I attached a chip to my ballot so that I can track it.
I won't say exactly for whom I voted but I did vote mostly Republican!
To me, Trump is still not the ideal candidate. But, I have no other choice but to take him at his word about SCOTUS appointments, and I think that, more than anything, is what will define the next 25 years.

Re: Trump or Clinton--our own poll
I'm not sure if this is a serious question but I'll share my recollection of that event...Alf wrote:Can anyone can explain why it was acceptable for Gore to challenge the 2000 election results, and take it to court when he didn't like the results, but it's deplorable for Trump to reserve the possibility of doing likewise?
Gore had conceded the election but then retracted his concession when he realized the Florida vote was so close and made the big difference in the electoral college. Calling for a recount is not unusual in many local elections. Florida did not finish a recount in a timely fashion and so the Supreme Court said "you're done" and left the Florida count in Bush's favor. This put Bush into the majority of electoral votes needed for the presidency even though Gore had won the popular majority. I believe it was later determined that a really final count in Florida would have still been in Bush's favor.
Note that Gore had not suggested the election might be rigged before the election or even after it.

Bitter, if you will not see facts presented to you and instead simply do personal attacks you will not be able to reason.Bitter Clinger wrote: Dale, you did not burden me. I would not waste my time reading any fiction that you post a link to...Stevens was murdered and Hillary is responsible, and she lied about it. Not sorry to burden you at all.

Re: Trump or Clinton--our own poll
Nothing in the snopes article I quoted defends Hillary's actions. That article examines the validity of the claim about how Stevens actually died. Sorry to burden you with facts and reason.Bitter Clinger wrote:Dale, quoting liberal left wing false fronts like snopes is highly disingenuous IMO. Dale, I can't imagine why you would seek to denigrate the memory of those Americans who were murdered thanks to Hillary?

Re: Trump or Clinton--our own poll
All you say may be true but Trump appears be one of the greatest con men in history. Given that accomplishment he might actually make a big difference as president. Unfortunately he is totally unpredictable, one hardly knows his current position on anything, he demonstrates no intellectual capability to handle complex questions, he has no friends in DC, so it's hard to know what to really expect.P3^eQme(c+ wrote:I plan to vote for Hillary. I have voted Republican my whole life, and this will be the first time I go the other way.
The Republican Party is divided. Donald Trump is just absolutely insane. He is not what this country needs.
And before the flames start against me, a little about me. I believe in the Constitution. Donald Trump is a mockery of someone who thinks he knows what he is talking about. And yes, I've fought for those freedoms invested in it. I am educated, a combat army infantry vet with multiple tours to both Iraq and Afghanistan, Purple Heart recipient and CIB earner. I've fought defending the Constitution and I'll be darned if some psychopath thinks that banning a whole religion is okay, or that all hispanics are rapists, or any other of the idiotic nonsense he spills out. Oh, and I pay my taxes.
I don't care for Hillary but I certainly don't understand the strong hatred that many take pleasure in showing for her. She and Trump have interesting backgrounds. See: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/the-choice-2016/
