To set the retention of your holster, put your gun (empty chamber) with a loaded magazine, turn the screws tight as you can with a small screwdriver. Hold the holster upside down over a bed or something else that's padded. Shake the holster if the gun stays, loosen the screws a half turn and test again. Once you get to the point the gun falls out tighten the screws one full turn and test. If the gun stays in this is your loosest setting you should use.
