Oh its worth it, but for ease of taking on/off I'm basically using one of these:

My experience w/ the Alien Gear(and the Galco) holsters they haven't made me sweat. But I started carrying in late Oct when I got my plastic, not really the hot part of the year. Plus I tend to wear a undershirt which goes between my body and the holster so that may help as well. I suspect that if it ever makes me sweat, it's less to do with the holster and more to do with the season (aka the hot Texas summer).

I've been considering using an IWB holster lately, I haven't carried as much as I'd like to but I am going to consider looking at this Alien Gear one. I like the look of it, but I am somewhat of a sweater as well. I may just suck it up and use that anyways. I have an OWB holster right now and I feel like everyone can see it!

I am definitely a Youtuber as well, I research everything before I buy.
Whats nice about Alien Gear is their return policy and their customer service. I had a question about a particular product and they answered me pretty much within the hour. That, along with the price point, the sheer volume of guns they provide kydex shells for, and the modular nature of their product convinced me. Mind you, they're not the only ones doing that of course, but I went with my gut. I always wonder if others are as obsessive as I am when researching
I enjoy my Alien Gears as well. I have a 2.0 and a 3.0 - I must say the 3.0 imo is alot better made. My only complaint about the Alien Gears is they are kind of a pain to take off/put on. This leads it to being my holster on the weekends and such. Since I can't carry at work, I put on my gun while headed to work, take it off and store it in the car and then put it back on for the drive home.

Right now I own a Ruger 9E (a budget SR9 basically). I actually only started buying firearms about a year ago so it's the only pistol I own atm.
Thats how it starts, with the first one  - I owned my first pistol for several years without a real need for another. Always window shopping, but never really serious about purchasing something. Then in the last 2 years I went from the 1 to 4

Haven't looked at a Glock. Not with the intent to carry anyways. You might be right about the full size being comfortable but I'd hate to spend money on a quality holster and it not be very comfortable.
What do you own now if I may ask ? Best way to know is to buy a holster for what you currently have, wear it around the house and see how comfortable you think you would be with it. Fluidic wrote:What brand of holsters would you recommend for either concealed or open?
Lots of discussions about that around the forum, the opinions on that very depending on the person. I personally like IWB style holsters for concealed carry. One suggestion I can't make enough is get a good Gun Belt - standard department store belts just won't cut it.

Fluidic wrote:Thanks for the replies. I'm mainly asking because I would like to carry a full size pistol over a compact one. Most compact pistols I've held/shot always seem to be too small for my hands. For instance, my friend's wife has an M&P Shield and my pinky hangs off the bottom of the mag well making it something I wouldn't want to use in a life or death situation.
Aside from that, I've read a lot that compacts are usually more comfortable to carry concealed. I'm open to suggestions on some compact pistols for those with bigger hands. Hopefully I don't find one I really like or my wife will kill me.

Also - several of the subcompact guns like the XDs have extension mags so you still have the smaller/easier to conceal gun but with a full size grip.

I started w/ a XDs 9 w/ an extension mag a few months back when I first started concealing, I found it easier to conceal and worried about it showing less, it helped me get more comfortable with the idea/feeling of it. I just recently got me a Walther PPQ, which isn't a huge gun, but definitely a full/regular sized gun and it is slowly starting to become my EDC - it usually will depend on style of dress or if I care if the gun shows or not.

I've yet to OC myself, but I am looking for a nice holster to be able to do so. I use to think women and all their shoes were silly, but I'm starting to understand, I want different holsters and different looks for different occasions :biggrinjester:
