My theory is they expect we will just pay the fine, being out of state we probably won't drive over to fight it. Which was true for all but one occasion, I hired a lawyer to show up and fight the traffic stop for me. Later found out I had a bench warrant out... he did 'eventually' fight the ticket. 2 weeks late - He failed to mention that part when I talked to him and he told me it was taken care of. So while it was no longer a moving violation, I still owed failure to appear fees and they wanted them pretty bad. So somehow he pled it down to a $25 fine... but the ticket was still almost 400 bucks because of FTA fee and court fees
