Re: Washington County Appraisal District Office
Disclosure: I'm not a lawyer, but, I have a little knowledge regarding this type situation. If the building housing the Appraisal District is owned by the district itself, then the building can't be posted (except that the meeting room can be posted during any meetings conducted under the Open Meeti...

Re: Bills to fix the private entity leasing a government building loophole
Are there any bills filed, or in the plans of being filed, that will prohibit this terrible loophole of a private entity leasing a building that is paid for by our tax dollars, and therefor being allowed by the recent AG rulings to post enforceable 30.06/30.07 signage? I am all for private property...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
Probably would go to this link: http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=80848 I filed the complaint against the City for the Museum (actually the Omni Theater) and the letter from the AG was just regurgitating the opinion regarding the zoo. It effectively said that, since the City wasn't postin...

Happy Nobama Day to everyone!
I'm sure someone will miss the most anti-second amendment President in our generation--but not me.

Re: Peruta En Banc Opinion - Concealed Carry Lost
The 9th refused a full en banc review of the half en banc panel's review. Peruta has now appealed to the SCOTUS: San Diego concealed weapons case appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court Given Trump's promise to appoint 2nd Amendment friendly justices, and given that the democrats were stupid enough to i...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
Again, not a lawyer, but my understanding is that carrying into a business after being given verbal notice is a Class A misdemeanor. The clause in the labor code just exempts a chemical plant from the protection that you can claim that it was stored in your locked vehicle in their parking lot (since...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
I need to clarify my post. I was talking specifically about employees of those chemical companies. The statute that I was thinking of is the same one that requires companies to allow employees to be able to leave their weapons locked in their personal vehicles in the parking lot (Labor Code 52.061) ...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
Not a lawyer but am somewhat familiar with the questions you are asking. Regarding the county annex; except during voting season, the only posted area is the JP's office and that is a court so it can be posted. While licensed persons can carry into the tax office, employees are subject to their empl...

Re: Received AG response in today's mail
I actually would pose a different question: I buy a lot in Fort Worth that is zoned single family residential. I then lease it to someone else and they build a bed and breakfast on the lot. When the City sends me a cease and desist letter, can I just claim that, even though I own the property, my te...

Received AG response in today's mail
As expected, I received a letter from the AG regarding my wrongful posting complaint (that I sent a year ago). It basically did like several others and closed the complaint with no action since the City is leasing the property to a non-profit and the non-profit is the entity that put up the 30.06 si...

Re: Gonzales City Council is going
Not a lawyer, but, yes, they can do that. They must post the proper signage (both 30.06 and 30.07) at the entrance to the room or rooms being used for the open meeting and can only post while the actual meeting is in session. Many government entities post their meetings to some degree. I believe the...

Re: Need a plumbing answer....
A few other suggestions: Instead of a channel lock, they sell a special strap wrench that is used alot in plumbing. I had to go buy one when I was trying to take the top off a shower handle (after spraying with penetrating oil). If you are inside city limits and they have modern building codes, most...

Re: A no gun sign for CHLers?
I saw a sign just like the one originally mentioned in the DFW area a couple of years ago. It was on a business selling alcohol (for off premises). It was an official looking sign that basically said "the unlicensed or licensed possession" of a handgun was a felony. However, it was not a 5...

Re: Mayors Roundtable
I'd ask if she would support a law for Texas that would be similar to the one Tennessee originally tried to pass. In it's original form, it created a liability for any business that posted 30.06 equivalent such that the business then had an obligation to protect the customers that had been "dis...

Re: Academy and Buying Ammo and carded?
I just left Academy, was going there to get dad a gift card for father's day and yup, all the ARs have been removed but are in cages behind the counter. Not sure if it was Pollo Loco for dinner or just the fact that Academy is giving in to "political pressure" that made me sick. As a long...
