I'm glad you mentioned S&W.

I'm now starting to look at the Smith & Wesson M&P15X Rifle.

They are running a special with this, 5 free magazines:

I'm hoping to purchase it this Monday or Tuesday. I was surprised to find out that I got a bonus from work, which would almost cover the cost of the rifle (after tax). Plus 5 free mags sounds great.

Does anyone know if this comes with a carry case? I didn't see anything about it in the spec's.

TIA

And as always, many thanks for all the replies.

One of the lead firearms/swat instructors at TEEX said if he had to buy a new patrol rifle and did not have unlimited funds, he would get an S&W. He told me that is based on running patrol rifle schools all over the state and seeing every platform imaginable. I don't think you could go wrong with the M&P - and the 5 magpul mags is +/- $100 value.

I have a BM that is ok, but sloppy IMO - it's a DI setup. My LMT is as solid as it gets, but its a piston too. I want an S&W to have a solid DI rifle.

It's on a long list of "wants"

Re: A few questions on buying an AR-15 M4-gery

Usually I would second the RRA, Colt, LMT, and Noveske comment, but my dept just got a bulk order of Colt's in and they all have a problem with a pin getting worn down. Colt is talking about possibly replacing all of the rifles. I'm talking upwards of like 30 weapons, all brand new.

My LMT is the bee's knees...but I'm like STUPID BIASED so to be fair there are many other brands out there.

For the money, I don't think RRA or S&W can be beat. Should be able to get a great rifle for under a G.
