I*'m loving mine. But that love gets expensive in ammo costs. LOLTexasCajun wrote:I've had the Springfield mil-spec for a couple of years now. Great gun & too much fun to shoot - especially on the plate racks. A lot of times, I have to force myself to leave it at home so that I can concentrate on skill-building and quality practice with my other pistols. I have no doubt you'll also find yours too much fun as well.zimmerdesignz wrote:AndyC wrote:I've been up and down this thread and I'm still not seeing a pic!

Any recommendations for a longer thumb saftey. I have fat boy thumbs and would feel comfortable with a little more meat on the safety.

Buy quality magazines and you'll be fine

Re: 1911 suggestions in $500-$700 range??
We went straight to the range. No cleaning or pre oil or anything, straight from the shop. Ran 125 rounds through it, not a single problem.Abraham wrote:zimmerdesignz,
Please keep us posted on how well (or not) it runs after you've blasted it some...
My experience with every 1911 I've owned or shot gave me problems.
I know some guys buy them and never experience a single issue, so maybe I'm just snake bit when it comes to 1911s.
Modern pistols are less 'likely' to mess up, but they too can be problematic.
I had a Sig quite literally fall apart.

I wasn't going to bring it up, but you read a lot on the net. I have never owned a 1911. Is it reliable enough for a CCW? Does it require all the tweaking you read about?

Re: 1911 suggestions in $500-$700 range??
This started yesterday. I shot a S&W 1911 SC and fell in love. Very point and shoot. It shot exactly where aimed. The trigger being so light compared to the XD Mod 2 I have was incredible. I was surprised to find even my wife loved it. She has complained about her forearms being tired with a 9mm. I never thought should would love a 45. It was just a pleasure to shoot. I'm not looking for anything with a lot of frills or overly BLINGED. I want a reliable gun that shoots nice.
