I remember being in a meeting in Santa Clara during the 1984 Morgan Hill earthquake, about 30 miles from the epicenter. Our building was near the bay so the land was over water - it was like being on a gigantic waterbed. I saw the telephone poles outside swaying in a rythmn. It was strange, but the motion made me feel quesy for an hour afterwards. The Annoyed Man wrote:[*]1983 Coalinga quake (magnitude 6.5)—I was about 100 miles away, but still got a lot of shaking.

Re: Anyone in the DFW area feel the earthquake?
I don't live near Dallas so I didn't feel the earthquake. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, but I was, that the USGS has monitoring equipment and quickly calculated the magnitude and epicenter. Having lived in California for many years I have experienced many earthquakes. They are just a way of life.
