Springfield probably has more information and data then you. In technical terms, they have a larger sample size.Blindref757 wrote:I took my xds9 to the range this week and specifically tried to get it to slam fire. Put the gun into battery several times without the grip safety engaged with no problems. I tried it with two different magazines and with a varying number of bullets in each one. Never could accomplish a discharge. I tried it while using the slide lock and a manual pull and release. I'm still not convinced that I need to send mine in and risk getting a crummy trigger. I absolutely love this gun (trigger) the way it is right now. The recoil is amazingly unnoticable and it fits my hand like a glove!
Is there anything I'm missing as to why I should send this gun in?

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
It might be more than just the barrel dimensions. The .45 ACP operates at a chamber pressure rating of 21,000 psi compared to 35,000 psi for the 9mm. Some of the other components may have been "beefed up" to accommodate the increased pressure. The Annoyed Man wrote:I can tell you that the 9mm XDS weighs more than the .45. The reason is the difference in the weights of two barrels of equal OD, but one with a 9mm bore and the other with a .45 bore.jmra wrote:Wow, I don't know what to say. Thanks. It looks like I may be picking up a G19 in a trade Thursday (for a rifle that was living in the back of the safe). A lot bigger than the XDs but it will work.RogueUSMC wrote:I am debating on buying a friend's 9mm XDS this week...if I do, you are welcome to hold it while yours is gone. It hasn't had the recall performed yet but it can wait until yours gets back. You are just down the road from me looks like. I have my XDS .45 back already.
If you do get it, I would love to hear your take on the difference between the two especially related to recoil and follow up shots. I have toyed with the idea of trading my .45 for a 9mm if there is a significant difference in follow up shot placement.
Again, thank you for the offer and Merry Christmas.
Would be nice to see how many members are close and get together for coffee one Saturday.
