A very obvious observation, but very true! :smash:

We did the same in New York.
I don't know about LEO training in Texas but every intermediate or above firearm class I took included that.
In the basic pistol class I took several years ago at the Arms Room and during my chl class, also at the arms room we covered exactly that - bang bang look, bang bang bang look. That was also one of the drills in the NRA personal protection class that I took last year at PSC with Charles Cotton. And they all were for the same reason - training to break the tunnel vision that occurs when fight/flight kicks in.
:iagree: Same as me.

Some people take things too personally. I have inadvertently cut off people. If I have the opportunity I will "apologize" to the affected driver. Some people rationalize that the other person did it on purpose and can't control their temper. I think this is the cause of most "road rages".
I don't think it's a case of "can't control their temper," it's don't care to or won't. Watch that same person in the muddle of a tantrum quiet down when superior force is shown. Some of the hostile acts are for that individuals bragging rights and think most are just bullies.
:iagree: That may be the definition of a bully.

DaveT wrote:Not going to get into the drawing a gun and having it at the ready, that has already been discussed numerous times. We can all armchair quarterback the situation after it is over, but the bottom line is that the OP made a decision and it worked out for him.

One thing to keep in mind when talking about calling 911 is to call immediately, then keep the dispatcher on the line while you are addressing the road rage idiot. All 911 calls are recorded and that can be valuable to you at a later date if legal problems arise.
Dave - I agree as long as you can safely call 911 without giving up your tactical advantage and full concentration.

Texas_Blaze wrote:I always worry about announcing "I have a gun", for the exact reason the OP experienced. The bad guy called the cops and cried MWAG. To me, gun comes out only when it is time to fire. In this case I probably would have stayed in the car, if I were blocked in, and called 911, telling them I am armed and feel threatened. If bad guy comes to your car and attempts to enter you are justified to use force. Maybe honk your horn if he starts to approach, get attention of homeowners, distract him, I like the high beam recommendation I read earlier. Just my thoughts. I wasn't there, it is easy to make statements online about what I would do, living it real time is a different matter, but thanks for posting, we need to always think of our response to situations.

jbarn wrote:So your only tool for a person yelling is your gun?
The guy was told to stop a least three times and it kept coming.
At this point he stepped out of his vehicle in an aggressive manner. I immediately put my car into "park", unholstered my weapon, took it off safe, and kept it at low ready behind the steering wheel. He started coming towards us

I opened my door and stated very loudly and clearly that I was armed, that I am not afraid to use my weapon if he approached us. I repeated statements like this several times. He stopped approaching our vehicle.

Re: i drew my weapon tonight

It's easy to second guess how a person reacts in a stressful situation after the fact.
Maybe there could have been some improvements, but the OP did a terrific job. :tiphat:
