Re: National Parks
Not surprisingly, the public has been tirelessly dumping on this proposal on the MSM sites. Blood in the streets all over again. Hopefully the comments at DOI are a little more on our side.

Re: Texans: Who will you vote for?
I cast a strategic vote for Hillary (apparently, I'm the only one here). I won't vote for her in the general, assuming she makes it, but she will probably lose to McCain in the general whereas Obama can win it. I don't care to help put him in a position to win it all in November. I see a vote for Ob...

Re: Change in Nat'l Park Service Rules on CHLs
So, what's the likelihood that the Obama administration will promptly reverse this upon taking office, assuming it goes in favor of CHLs? It would've been great to have gotten this a few years ago, not during Bush's last year in office. Obama has been outperforming the polls, and the polls already s...

Heard that OH is hung up on TX letting current military under 21 get a CHL...don't know if this is a or the stopping point, just something I read somewhere.... I got a FL non-resident permit just to cover me when we head to OH for the holidays. Very painless application process (no class required),...

Re: County of residence delay approval times ?
I'm also in Austin, and just passed day 60. I knew going in that Travis county was going to drag its feet, so I applied for a Florida license a week or two after Texas. It arrived in less than two weeks, and is valid for carry in Texas. I don't have a common name, multiple addresses, or anything el...

Re: Not bad so far
Well looks like my application did not sit in the mailroom too long. My check cleared yesterday. Hopefully I get my PIN next Mon or Tue, if not this Friday. Is it true that Travis County is really slow about processing background checks? I hope not, but only time will tell. There's another thread w...

Re: Any Utah instructors planning a class in the Houston Are
Anybody planning a Utah certification class in the Houston area anytime soon? I'm waiting on my TX permit to be issued, but want to add a non-resident UT to keep me legal in OH on our annual family visits... Thanks! KD Check into Florida if all you need is coverage in Ohio. It costs more, but you d...

Re: Another for the 'What happens when you get pulled over'
Well, from the point of view of a long time experienced Texas officer, I would have to say that you have some valid points and a somewhat jaundiced view also. I do have a cynical view of DPS and sometimes let that get the best of me. Today was one of those days. I am not a fan of DPS, and was very ...

Re: Another for the 'What happens when you get pulled over'
I'm speaking of both. DPS was one of a host of agencies I looked into around 2000 before joining a federal agency. I'm aware of the DPS' duties and respectfully stand by my earlier comments regarding their service. Oh, my... a "Federal Agency" I'm sure they are much more beneficial to pub...

Re: Another for the 'What happens when you get pulled over'
Are you speaking of Texas Dept. of Public Safety Troopers or just the "highway patrol" in general (nationwide)? If the former, I would submit that you know very little about what they do. I'm speaking of both. DPS was one of a host of agencies I looked into around 2000 before joining a fe...

Re: Another for the 'What happens when you get pulled over'
The Highway Patrol is largely a do-nothing agency (I don't count drug interdiction ops and traffic patrol as useful). All in all, what a disappointing interaction with this guy. MY........thats a bit unfair don't you think? I think it's fair. To be very generous I'll call them a "do very littl...
