Plastic received Feb 24th. I have church tonight, so it looks like I'm skipping the Wally Walk and going straight to making sure the church ladies don't give me dirty looks.JD9mm wrote:Class: Dec 5th

Re: "Waiting Room"
That's probably the most ridiculous tampering ticket I've ever heard of. Locked... I get it. Just closed should be a verbal warning to me. But then again, I'm not the officer who deals with that junk everyday.Flatland wrote:OK folks, heres' my timeline. Thanks for all the info.

One arrest 20 years ago, public intox. 2 other ticket misdemeanors 20 years ago, fishing no license and tampering with Gov property (I opened the gate, not locked, to the hot springs road in Big Bend and drove on down).

RSD just confirmed that my license has been sent to printing.

I'll post an actual timeline once I have it in hand.

Re: "Waiting Room"
That was me, and I have since looked into it. Tx Government Code 311.014 clearly defines what is meant by the word "days" and how to calculated a period of days. However, the concept of a "business day" is no where to be found.zimmerdesignz wrote:Someone has posted that they spoke with a supervisor and they only count weekdays with that numberJD9mm wrote:Day 57 and still waiting. GC section 411.176b. Says that the background check designee needs to return my documents to you by Feb. 18th. Where are we at right now?

Re: "Waiting Room"
Called today, and got a tidbit of information that I wasn't expecting... lady accidentally told me that my app was sent to background check on Dec. 29th. That completely contradicts what I was told on multiple occasions, but it does give me some hope. If it is true, then it means that their official deadline to approve or decline my app is Feb. 27th.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I already posted this in another thread, but i am gonna post it here to because people don't seem to understand the timeline (I was one if them until I actually looked it up). ..
Actually, it is 90 days from the acceptance of the documents until they are required to either issue or decline your application.
Please forgive the lack of references, but the process is summarized like this:
1. The time line begins the day that RDS receives the last of your documents. For all practical purposes, that is the day you receive email confirmation of documents received.
2. They then have up to 30 days to send it to the "designee" to perform a background check.
3. The designee has until 60 days after RDS received your documents to return the completed background check.
4. RDS has 60 days FROM THE DATE THAT THE APP WAS GIVEN TO THE DESIGNEE to either issue or decline the license. (This is the most commonly misunderstood step. The 60 days start when they send it for BG check, not the day they receive it from you)
Does this mean it will take up to 90 days, no.
Does it mean it is possible to all goes through in a week? Possibly yes, but don't hold your breath.
Does this mean they will sit on it for 30 days before sending to the designee? No, but Remember that these are people too, and they are overwhelmed right now.
Does this mean they will meet the 90 day deadline for my app? Most likely yes, but again, we are talking about a group of people with the most applications to process since just after 9-11. Please extend to them the same grace that you would want when you are overwhelmed at your job.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Same here... Day 50 and still waiting...
My goal for this week is to be patient and not call them until Friday. I'm using the time to sell stuff on Craigslist to afford my new gun. Don't want to be carrying around the old revolver for very long. Hard to conceal a 6 shooter with a 4.5" barrel.

Re: Timeline for Processing per DPS
Yeah... if I were you I wouldn't call again until after Valentines Day at the earliest. I'm not saying anything shady goes on in that office, but its probably not a good idea to annoy the people who are over worked, stressed, and determine when your app is worked on.sweatmachine wrote:You're calling way too soon!Gnamaree02 wrote:So I just called at 0825 hrs the Handgun Licensing division. Nice woman told me that the countdown on the 30 days for updates and the 60 days for completion begins when your FILE IS COMPLETE. Since my app was received 1/6/2016 but my fingerprints (1/13/2016) weren't confirmed until 1/15/2016, the countdown starts on 1/15/2016.
As for me, when asked she said I didn't have anything else to submit unless they find something in background. I'm assuming it hasn't made it there yet.
In my case, I have called a few to many times. Long story short, my buddy and I did all of our stuff together. (Class together, prints together, and submitted 1 day apart) He never called, and recieved hia license on Feb 1st. I called several times, and my app still has not begun processing.
I'm wondering if I am that guy who called too much and whose app has magically been put back on the bottom of the stack...

Re: "Waiting Room"
We are on exactly the same schedule (confirmation recieved on Dec. 20th). They told you basically the same thing I heard on Feb 3rd. That actually calms me down a bit that someone else is getting the same news as me. (See my post yesterday afternoon if you want to see why.)Waitingtech wrote:So here is my timeline...
Dec 21st all documents received by DPS.
FEB 4th- after no change I called to check on the status of my application. They said they had still been entering application from the first week of December and I should expect it will take another week or two before they start working on my application. From that point I should expect to wait another 6 weeks... So basically I'm almost at the 60 day Mark and they haven't even started the real waiting period.

Re: "Waiting Room"
They seem to be kind of erratic with their timelines. I spoke with one guy last week who said that my app was in background check, and thst I should expect completion in a couple weeks. This week, I was told by a lady that it had not yet been entered, and that the wait would be 30-60 days from the day they enter it. The two different stories confused me, so I called back and spoke with a 3rd person. He agreed that it had not been entered, and with the 2nd timeline.molon_labe_86 wrote:My confirmation email was on 12/30/15 fingerprints on 1/4/16! Talked to a rep yesterday he said it was still to early to get any info!I thought after the 30 day mark they could give some kind of info about your app?
I told him about the call last week, and he said that there is no possible way that someone from RSD would have told me that, and heavily insinuated that I was making the story up to try to get my app processed faster.
I then asked about my friend who did his class on the same day as me, and submitted his paperwork on the same day as me. He already has his license in hand, but mine hasn't even been entered yet? He said that sometimes mistakes happen, and that apps get pushed to the front when they shouldn't be.
I'm so confused and frustrated...

Re: "Waiting Room"
GlassG19- I was told virtually the same thing by a lady yesterday afternoon. (Slight confusion about docs recieved, quickly said it wasn't entered yet, and that it will be 45 to 60 days from here)This is after I was told last week that my app had already been sent off to background check and that I would most likley have plastic within 2 weeks.
I am so confused...
