I agree. I spent the balance of my adult life in the Peoples Republic of New York State and in the early 2000's went through the process of obtaining my CC permit there... It took/takes 18 months there. The hassles of maintaining it was such a pain, that I actually gave it up in 2010 (or so). I then lived in New Mexico which had constitutional open carry, so I never even bothered to get my license. Big mistake on my part. I've had to wait the 6 months residency, now an extra 2-3 months prior to obtaining my LTC here. But you are quite correct. The process here in TX is very easy, but painstakingly slow from the outside looking in. In general, it's not nearly as slow as other places though.
