Re: Late December applicants still waiting?
Congrats, brother! I guess I'll be stopping by the post office today.sweatmachine wrote:My friends, the eagle has landed. I received plastic in the mail today.
CHL class: 12/20/15
Online App, documents sent, confirmation received: 12/21/15
Fingerprints: 12/23/15
Status Change: 3/22/16
Plastic in hand: 3/23/16
For a grand total of 93 calendar days and 61 business days since my confirmation email. If I hadn't called my state rep and Gov Abbott, who knows how long it would have taken? I think that shaved off 2-3 weeks.
It's been real, folks. Y'all be safe out there!

Re: Late December applicants still waiting?
I checked the mail, and still no plastic.
Have we determined an average time after site change till the card arrives? It seems most of the ones I've seen were within a day or two.

Now to start stalking my mailman! Thanks for all the support friends! I'll report back once plastic hits my palms.
I'm about to sneak in a trip to the post office for lunch. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Late December applicants still waiting?
If you don't have the plastic by then, you should at least see the site change, or be told it's approved and printing.sweatmachine wrote:After emailing/speaking with my state rep's office and emailing Gov Abbott, I got a call back from a manager at DPS on Wednesday (3/16). He told me they were pulling my app from the pile and would process it immediately, and would try to have plastic in my hand "within about a week, hopefully."GibsonLesPaul wrote: I can't believe you still haven't seen any progress. So, maybe next week? I'm not holding my breath.
Keep us posted, brother.

Now, I have to update my address in a few weeks when I move. I think I'll wait till I have the card in my hand.
No change for me, yet.

That's fantastic! Tell them to work mine once they're done with yours.sweatmachine wrote:Early this morning I received a call from a manager at DPS. Evidently my call to my state rep and/or Gov Greg Abbott's office made the wheels start spinning. The DPS manager sounded like someone fairly high up that could make things happen.
He said he'll be pulling my application from the stack and will process it individually ASAP, and he hopes to have plastic to me within a week. From the sounds of things they haven't touched my application yet, at least at the background check stage. It's just sitting in a pile somewhere. No telling how long it would have been had I not gone to my state reps/Gov's office.
If you're a December applicant and are still waiting I urge you to call/email your state reps and rattle some chains!

Was she saying 2 weeks till plastic, or just approval?TexHorns wrote:Still waiting. No website change, no plastic. I'm extremely frustrated. Record is clean.TexHorns wrote:App - 12/9 (confirmation same day)

Couldn't get through but after 15 tries was lucky enough to finally get to wait on hold for 30 minutes. Lady said they had everything. Couldn't tell me when to expect anything. Said "she would like to tell me 2 weeks" but couldn't tell me anything. So there's that. But she did say "everything looks good" so there is the silver lining!
Been watching yall post. Thought I should share as well. I have 3 other friends on the same timeline and we are all in the same boat.
Continue waiting...
Hook em!

Re: Late December applicants still waiting?
Looks promising. Ask them to sweeten the pot, and give you a 10 year expiration date for your pain and suffering.sweatmachine wrote:The DPS rep I spoke with today knew how long I'd been waiting because she verified all of my submission dates while we were on the phone. I reminded her that today is 85 days and she just said "you'll have to wait longer. There's nothing we can do."GibsonLesPaul wrote:
What the deuce...I was hoping you would receive better news. On the bright side, at least it's being looked at...although it's not that bright of a side considering the wait. I wonder if calling your local rep got it out of no-man's- land and into background check.
Did you happen to mention how long you've been waiting while you were on the phone? Or tell them you have spoke with a local rep?
Also, I received a response from the office of Greg Abbott saying the following (I edited my name out)
"Dear Mr. Sweatmachine: Thank you for taking the time to contact the Office of the Governor. We understand that you are concerned. I am asking Colonel Steven McCraw, Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, for his staff’s assistance in reviewing and responding both to you and this office on the information shared."
Hopefully I'll get some traction with the Governor's Office asking DPS management to look into it. My guess is more waiting...

sweatmachine wrote:"Still in background check. We have all we need. Please just wait longer."
She could give no indication of how much longer it could be. No telling. Could be weeks, or days, or anything in between.
I'm so frustrated with this nonsense.

Re: Late December applicants still waiting?
Are you still not able to get anyone on the phone? I'm curious to know what your status is. Surely it's approved by now, and just waiting in the print queue. Its gotta be...sweatmachine wrote:And yet another person that submitted later than me is getting approved before me...double-U Tee Effltc newbie wrote:Submitted app 12/24/2015

plastic soon just mail time
Congrats all the same.
Not sure if you've already mentioned this, but was anything on your record? Or any other reason for a delay? I can't fathom why you would slip through the cracks like this.

Re: Late December applicants still waiting?
That's awesome! If I wasn't told I was approved this morning, I would have followed in your footsteps.sweatmachine wrote:I was getting frustrated about DPS' lack of responsiveness to calls/emails/anything and my 80+ day timeline, so yesterday I emailed all of my state representatives and Gov. Greg Abbott. Today I received a call back from my state rep's office! They said they were going to rattle the chain at DPS to try to get me an answer. He even gave me his number to call back if I didn't hear something. Imagine that!
Hopefully I'll hear back soon and get plastic soon!
By the way, for anyone wanting to look up their state rep, I used this site:
http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/Home.aspx
Think they'll give you a prorated refund for each day over the 60 Mark?

Re: Late December applicants still waiting?
I called again this morning, and I noticed that every time I call, I hear something new.
Last time was a new message talking about longer wait times, and to not bother if you're around 30 days in. This time I was given an option for a call back. Since the wait time was 20 minutes, I chose the call back.
About 5 minutes later I receive my call back, and I'm told I'm number one in the queue.
I sit on hold for 15 minutes, contemplating the purpose of a call back if I still have to wait and listen to that sweet sweet hold music.
I finally speak with Daniel, and politely tell him I think I might be over 60 days. He says "You and everybody else".
After a few minutes of garbled speech, I make out that he's telling me I'm approved. No further info on how much longer, and the site still hasn't changed.
I'm guessing it's all up to the printer queue now...
