There's a lot of room between "suspected" and "knew". Having read the account carefully, the employee said he knew GSchretter had a gun "in that bag" (meaning, the fanny pack). As someone else said, what he was doing was not his job; it was what he presumed his job to be, which was to serve as some kind of door cop. And for the record, not knowing how stupid people are is a darn good reason to not piss them off, especially when you believe they have a gun.He doesn't know how stupid or smart people are, it sounds as if he was doing his job.
