Pawnshops are required to do that. Gunsmiths aren't.

One of the standard methods is to check with any area gun shop, and drop your gun off for "cleaning" ( ;-) ) for $10 or so.

It's over 20 years since I was at Hood, so I can't tell you of any shops in the area.
