So this all started for me January 27th 2016.
As of today's date on March 27th 2016 I have my Plastics in hand.
Very excited, time to do my wally walk.
I guess I'll free up my space on the bench, and wish all of you guys that are waiting a good luck.
By the way, the website didn't update till today when I received it.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I got a call from DPS telling me that they only needed to add my photo together with app then it was on to printer. We will see if 10-14 days from now, will I have my plastics. Senator rep also checked in today. Here's hoping a seat will open up.Marvel281 wrote:Emailed my senator and his aid wrote back asking for my DL. I gave it and they said DPS will get in touch. I told them that I only want a update and not to skip in line. I ask in my message for the website to give updates on status and position in the system.
We will see what happens.

I hope it works for you. It seems some get better results than others.SplittinHairs wrote:I contacted my senator yesterday as well. Just sent a nice message overall showing concern about my timeline and application status. I gave the DPS people good words, I wasn't looking to get anyone in trouble. I was reluctant to contact anyone as it was. Got a message back almost immediately from an aid asking for my info. Also said she would contact DPS about my app, let me know, and get my stuff in the system. We'll see. I haven't heard anything yet since emailing her back my info. I hope no one calls me back when I am in class.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Did you get the confirm email at least? If not, I would be contacting RDS soon.merrittj214 wrote:My all in date was 1/21/16. Still nothing. No mail. No email. No calls from the DPS/RSD. Nothing at all.
Like our buddy from a few days ago, when I buy retail I am always delayed. It's embarrassing so I'm holding off on my new Glock until I get the plastic. Obviously I have no disqualifying offenses on my record. If I did, I wouldn't be here.
If the RSD gets a delay from NICS, what happens? Do they follow up with the FBI, wait on them for an approval, or after the three day period move forward (like FFLs do)?

Re: "Waiting Room"
This is all very hopeful. At least we can all know what's going on in the the office is where are applications are. I just wish they would put this on our update pages so we don't have an idea this is going on versus having a research it out later.holbrla wrote:Interesting undated post on DPS website:

Potential delays can be avoided by submitting complete information
Due to an increased volume of applications for a license to carry a handgun (LTC) in recent months, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is advising applicants to closely follow LTC application guidelines and to ensure they submit a fully-completed application including all supporting documentation.
During the three-month period from December 2015 through February 2016, DPS has received approximately 136,000 LTC application submissions compared to approximately 57,000 over the same time period the year prior – representing a 139 percent increase.
In response to the increased volume of applications, DPS has increased staffing strength (hiring additional personnel and initiating an overtime project involving multiple shifts, seven days a week) and resources to help ensure compliance with the statutory processing time frames for original and renewal applications.
By statute, DPS has up to 60 days to issue an original LTC, and 45 days to issue a renewal license. However, it is imperative that applicants understand that these time periods are calculated from the time a fully-completed application and supporting documents are received by the department.

CHL class: 12/20/15
Online App, documents sent, confirmation received: 12/21/15
Fingerprints: 12/23/15
Status Change: 3/22/16
Plastic in hand: 3/23/16
For a grand total of 93 calendar days and 61 business days since my confirmation email. If I hadn't called my state rep and Gov Abbott, who knows how long it would have taken? I think that shaved off 2-3 weeks.
It's been real, folks. Y'all be safe out there!

Is there a list of people that we will run into while calling? Sounds like there are several with a reputation.

Sweat, you have been in here a long time. I did not look for your date but you started in mid December I guess? That is very long from what we are seeing right?
