I got a call from DPS telling me that they only needed to add my photo together with app then it was on to printer. We will see if 10-14 days from now, will I have my plastics. Just sent a nice message overall showing concern about my timeline and application status. I gave the DPS people good words, I wasn't looking to get anyone in trouble. I was reluctant to contact anyone as it was. Got a message back almost immediately from an aid asking for my info. Also said she would contact DPS about my app, let me know, and get my stuff in the system. We'll see. I haven't heard anything yet since emailing her back my info. I hope no one calls me back when I am in class.

Like our buddy from a few days ago, when I buy retail I am always delayed. It's embarrassing so I'm holding off on my new Glock until I get the plastic. Obviously I have no disqualifying offenses on my record. If I did, I wouldn't be here.
If the RSD gets a delay from NICS, what happens? Do they follow up with the FBI, wait on them for an approval, or after the three day period move forward (like FFLs do)?

Due to an increased volume of applications for a license to carry a handgun (LTC) in recent months, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is advising applicants to closely follow LTC application guidelines and to ensure they submit a fully-completed application including all supporting documentation.
During the three-month period from December 2015 through February 2016, DPS has received approximately 136,000 LTC application submissions compared to approximately 57,000 over the same time period the year prior – representing a 139 percent increase.
In response to the increased volume of applications, DPS has increased staffing strength (hiring additional personnel and initiating an overtime project involving multiple shifts, seven days a week) and resources to help ensure compliance with the statutory processing time frames for original and renewal applications.
By statute, DPS has up to 60 days to issue an original LTC, and 45 days to issue a renewal license. However, it is imperative that applicants understand that these time periods are calculated from the time a fully-completed application and supporting documents are received by the department.

For a grand total of 93 calendar days and 61 business days since my confirmation email. If I hadn't called my state rep and Gov Abbott, who knows how long it would have taken? I think that shaved off 2-3 weeks.
