Geoleo3 wrote:How are you guys already getting it after just a month? I did mine 4/12 with all the docs and fingerprintd submitted. Is there a number that i can get through to an actual human to checky status?

(512) 424-7293 is their number, it seems that they are caught up now. I waited exactly 100 days, it is frustrating when you see somebody get theirs in 30 days and you were all in 60 days prior. You can call but more than likely when and if you get somebody on the phone they will probably just tell you that it is in process.

Well just received an email from my State Representatives office as well. So we shall see, looks as though both are in communication with the DPS.

I really wish that it didn't have to come to this.

First call: 8 weeks ago: was told that the original start date of the 2/16/16 would be kept as the all in date.

Second Call: 6 weeks ago: Was told that the application was in background check and it could take two to three weeks.

Third Call: 2 weeks ago and was told that the all in date was the 25th and I should see results within 60 business days (yesterday). I could live with this and I fully understand the RSD using the date of the 25th after all of the documents have been received.

Called today: Was told that all documents were uploaded into there system on the 4/23/16 and it would be 12 weeks from that date. What? Where did the date of 4/23/16 come from?

Where is it in the rules that the issuance of a license or a letter of denial shall be issued from the date at which the Department decides to upload the documents? :rules: :rules: :rules: I didn't ask that, it was what I was thinking. Figured if I said that then all of a sudden all of my documents have been lost or something like that.

I did say "so you are telling me the end of July?" And the reply back was "yes but not all applications are taking the full 12 weeks", And yet I am being told that my application process is know looking at 25 weeks, Basically 6-months. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I don't want to call a state rep, senator or the Governor's office. But I am seriously running out of patients here. I would rather get a denial letter and have a hearing in 30 days, it is better than 12 additional weeks. :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5

I really think that I have been very patient, but this is just ridiculous.
Wow! If I was in your position I would give your state representative a call and see what they can do for you. You are being treated very poorly and there is no reason for it. If the state rep's office contacts the RSD you will receive a call from someone at the RSD that will let you know what is going on with your application. Make sure that you get a contact telephone number so that if things don't go as planned you can get back to the same person.
So last night with encouragement from my wife, I decided to email my State Representative Donna Howard in regards to the timeline and the different stories the RSD keeps giving me.

I really don't have a whole lot of faith that she will be instrumental in expediting the process or getting to the bottom of the issue. After I climbed into bed it was just eating away at me, So I decided to visit Governor Greg Abbott's web site and request help from his office.

Received an email from the Office of the Governor :txflag: this morning stating that they are asking the Director of Public Safety for his staff's assistance in reviewing and responding both to me and their office.

Pretty quick response from the Governors office, really didn't want to have to reach out to anybody and ask for help with the application process. However, I don't think that I am being treated fairly by the RSD. I could just sit back and continue to wait or requested help, I have waited long enough.

All in all, I just want to be treated fairly. I do not think that is to much to ask.

Doubt it, I did the fingerprints and application in January, the CHL course in February and submitted everything February 16th. Still waiting :waiting: :waiting: :waiting:

There is no telling how long or how short the wait will be. I was all in on 2/16/16 and tomorrow that makes 91 calendar days, I uploaded support documents on 2/25/16 to be on the safe side and I think they are going from that date which would make it 81 calendar days. Either way it is a long time. The last time I spoke to them they told me it was in progress, in my mind it was in progress the day I submitted it.

I have seen people get in 26 days and some in 131 days. Its a roll of the dice. Hopefully you are one of the lucky ones! Good luck!

Well this sucks, everybody seems to be getting their plastic or at least a status change. I called at the end of last week and was told that my application had entered background on the April 22 and from what I have seen the background can take 4-6 weeks, I received an email on 5/2/2016 stating that the application was being processed and that it could take up to eight (8) business weeks to complete. Well it had been 11 business weeks when I received the email stating it could take 8 business weeks. :mad5

I am not calling again or emailing anymore, it seems that they are catching up but working backwards.

I have heard some peoples status change the day they receive their license, some a few days before, and some receive it and the status changes a few days latter.

I am sure that they are playing catch up and just have not got to it yet. It will happen.

Re: "Waiting Room"

Just got off the phone with RSD, very nice and polite. There has always been a debate on the timeline of 60 days, is it 60 calendar days or 60 business days? Personally I don't care as long as I understand which.

My all in date was 2/16/16 and according to the phone call I am at 47 days (business day :skep:) and 60 days will be May 10th, 2016. This basically boils down to 12 weeks not 6 weeks :nono:. I know there will be a lot of you that don't agree with their statement on business days (please don't :fire the messenger). I am just happy to have an answer and have a better idea of when to expect approval.

So I am just going to sit back and wait at least 2 1/2 more weeks :waiting:.

Hopefully this information helps some of you waiting and wondering.

Just to get ahead of the onslaught:

GC §411.177. ISSUANCE OR DENIAL OF LICENSE. (b) The department shall, not later than the 60th day after the date of the receipt by the director’s designee of the completed application materials:
(1) issue the license;
(2) notify the applicant in writing that the application was denied: :rules: :rules: :rules: :rules: :rules: :rules:

Being that a day is not defined as a business day or calendar day. It seems to leave the RSD the option to interpret the law the way they want to.

I thought that surely this was a mistake so I called back last week. I got the same guy on the phone again and he told me that there was no change. Not happy with this answer, I decided to call one more time. I called at about 1pm yesterday and got someone nee on the phone. I told her that i wanted to check to see if they needed additional documents and to get a status update. She said i was approved and that I was being sent to print! She gave me a time window of 7-14 business days until I receive my license! Hope this is true! Checked the website a few minutes ago and no change yet. Hope this means that they are getting caught up!

That's odd I called and my all in date was a few days after yours and she stated that they haven't even started on February yet
My all in date was the same as yours (2/16/16), I spoke to a lady at RSD yesterday that said they have not even started the background check yet. I know there busy and overwhelmed with the amount of applications. I just wish there was a way of knowing where your applications was in the process, even if they said six weeks away from review and it had been there for 8 weeks.

They actually called back...I picked up this time. I'm guessing heck is freezing over if they can call back from the DPS within minutes of someone not picking up.

Basically the guy was saying I was not needing to send in anymore information and not to waste my time. Also something about it's going to legal now and they will make a determination.
Just got off the phone with RSD, did very little to call. Said that my app has not even made it to background yet. They received everything and confirmed it on 2/16/16. If they go by Calendar days then I am at 58 days, if they go by working days then its 42 days. Not sure what their system is, I can tell you it is not in the order received. So far I have seen some February apps after me processed and even a few March apps. Guess there is nothing more to do than :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: and patiently wait :totap: and wonder :headscratch
