Re: "Waiting Room"
I saw an Iraqveteran8888 YouTube episode in which they weren't knocking Texas but both states that they were surprised that with Texas being such a Red State it took so long to get a permit. They said they go to the DMV, fill out a form, and they have their license in a week. They live in Georgia. Saw another post about Tennessee, seemed to work much about the same.merrittj214 wrote:12/23/15: Application submitted
01/05/16: Fingerprints provided
01/16/16: Class completed
01/21/16: Supporting documents email confirmation from DPS
I called back in March and they said it would be done by the middle of April. Here we are and nothing has come. Website has not changed. No plastic. Nothing in the mail. No news. Tumbleweeds. Is this just a Texas thing, or do all the sates take this long? My friend at work said his took a week in GA. He might have been full of _______ though.

Took my class 11/28/15, submitted paperwork 11/30/15, fingerprints 12/12/15. Thought I had submitted everything! On March 15, 2016, I finally got through after being on hold for 45 minutes to talk to someone after 2 emails were never answered. Seems that they didn't receive all my supporting documents! So, sent a pdf and then finally got confirmation email 3/15. So, here I sit waiting again I guess for an additional 60 plus days, but have no one to blame but myself. The lady did say that everything else was done. I never received an email or snail mail saying hey, we are missing something. So, I am checking daily, but so far no status change!
I sent, or rather thought I sent, everything in back on December 15. I never received a confirmation email. I did email them to see if they got everything, but got a cookie cutter response. I called Februry 12th and was told that they did not have my paperwork. I resubmitted and received a confirmation email on Feb 19, a few days later. Man, I waited two months and was told to go to the back of the line. Sonofa... What do you do but wait more.

Open it up and LTC!!TexBman wrote:When do the 12 weeks supposedly start, the day you get everything in or email confirmation?
The alternative is that you memorize your DL number and enter it into the RSD website with increasing frequency and frustration for those three months... Then you start writing letters to government agencies, then you hit refresh over and over on the website, you come to the waiting room a lot, you start shopping for guns, you start selling guns... You go to the range, you carry in your house so much you think that is the only place that people carry...
Then you start making sarcastic posts about the process...
Patience.
Finally you learn to meditate.
Hahaha you just described me to a tee! I am not making the sarcastic jokes about the system though. Nah, I am grateful to live in this Great State, grateful to be a veteran of this Great State, and really grateful for our heroes and our finest. This system sucks, waiting that is, but I figure the cops, including the DPS, have better things to do than have a dumb grunt like me annoy them.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I agree. I like Greg Abbott and my State Reps, but they can't help a few thousand people calling them for help because they have to wait. I thought I was all in in the middle of December. Nope, they never got my info so I resubmitted and this time got a confirmation email of Feb 19th. Sucks waiting, but that's what we have to do.IMASWEATING wrote:Here's how it works. They brought in more help. The new help has started processing Feb applications, therefore speeding up backlog.PhilBob wrote:I don't think it is a pure linear process and a case of people jumping forward in the line. One may have a "clean" record, but if one has a common name, or a name the same as or similar to someone whose record isn't so clean then the process may take longer. Same perhaps with people whose criminal record is clean but have frequently moved or changed jobs. Just as one example, a friend I used to work with has a name that appears on the no fly list, but it isn't him. You would not believe what he has to go through every time he flies.Gnamaree02 wrote:And what of those who applied in February and March, & now have plastic in hand. I think it is a good thing to bring to light with those who can do something about the problems we have with having to wait so long. I see a problem with this though. You just did two things. 1) If it does work you just cut the line in front of others 2) This will further bog the system down and cause more delays. I personally am for Constitutional Carry. As a veteran I believe all of our rights come from God, not a lawyer. With that said, the system we have now kind of sucks, but it is what we have. Be patient or work to improve it.
Perhaps when you're beating your head against a brick wall, with same ol website Everyday, then you'll be a lil up in arms.
I got my plastic, Mon, 3/28. Website changed Sat, 3/27.
Plastic in 1 day short of 12 weeks.
Wife's website changed 3/31. She got her plastic on Sat, 4/2. 88 days, 4.days plus 12 weeks. We both were all in w/confirmation email on (only one) on 1/5.
Ours came just like most of them, 12 weeks give or take a few. With NO extra contact. If you go to website to check your status and it does not kick out and error, YOU ARE IN THE SYSTEM.
I know it's fun in this chat room, but HOLD YOUR HORSES.
YOU WILL MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE TO DO YOUR TIME FOR WAITING TILL THIS YEAR TO GET'ER DONE, 12 WEEKS IS WHAT THEY QUOTING NOW. CONGRESSMEN OR THE GOVERNOR OF THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS HAVE MORE INPORTANT THINGS TO DO THAN FIELD PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS BECAUSE YOU ARE IMPATIENT!
REMEMBER 12 WEEKS, GIVE OR TAKE A DAY OR TWO.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND BE SAFE!
Over and Out

Re: "Waiting Room"
You know the good folks at DPS are doing their very best. I bet they have some great folks who are working pretty hard on these licenses. It's not their fault that the entire State of Texas decided to en masse get a LTC/CHL. My life, as I am sure your life, will continue. In 10 years our little wait will seem insignificant. There is a juvenile side to me that says "Ah man this ain't fair I want my license and I want it now." I know it sucks waiting, but that's what we have to do. As for tomorrow, the Sun will rise, I will be proud to be a Texas Vet, and I will love my family. Nothing is different from one year ago, before I decided to apply for a license. I will go to the range next week and I will shoot and I will have fun. OK, so it's another month until I carry a gun in Kroger, that's fine. I will go to Kroger next week and buy an extra bottle of wine, probably a nice meritage (red blend) or I will buy a Shiner mixed 12 pack, I really want to try that Kosmos I hear so much about. But, my life does not stop just because DPS is swamped. Let them do their job and we shall enjoy our life.mikezee1970 wrote:WilliePete, humor aside, I'm in the same boat as you. I submitted everything online on 2/1. I never got a confirmation e-mail or I thought I never got a confirmation e-mail. I re-submitted on 2/19 and got a confirmation e-mail. I'm hoping my all in date is 2/1, but since my re-submittal, I doubt it. I think my new all in date is 2/19. I was getting excited when I heard our fellow 1/15ish LTC applicants were getting positive results because I figured I was only a couple of weeks behind them. Now, I fear it's more like a month or so behind. Not very happy right now.......WilliePete wrote:I thought it obvious. Tis' but an April Fools Joke. I received my confirmation email on Feb 19, 2 months and 1 day from which I thought I submitted my original paperwork. It was like being told "Go back to the end of the line."
