Gun Owners vs the Insane

My wife is a social worker who has worked with the mentally ill, so she is familiar with both guns and the insane - fortunately in different populations. A couple decades ago, the US basically emptied the asylums - let the inmates out onto the street. Partly to save money and party due to a concern ...

Re: New National park regulations

We aint there yet on this one. In my view, this is one of the biggest issues with concealed carry - right up there with employer parking lots. As users of this forum are aware, calling 911 REALLY does not work in the backcountry. Under pressure from Congress, the park service has a proposal to make ...

I am glad you enjoy shooting yours. Mine is the most uncomfortable piece in the safe. It has also had reliability problems. When I got it, it would fail to eject about half the time (this was a couple of years ago so I forget exactly where the cases wound up). This took a trip to the factory to fix....

Houston Parks - good news/bad news

I have been using some of the Houston city parks recently for exercise, so I read the sign posted at the entrance - one of the rules was: "No hunting or display of firearms". The bad news is that I am going to have to revise my fall-back retirement plan of living on urban pigeons. The good...

While I was in the process of writing to OSHA to complain, I googled the regulation number. About halfway down the first page of responses was a letter from a number of members of congress to Pres. Bush, opposing the regulation. ONe of the signers was Diane Feinstein. I realized right then that this...

Fun and Useful

I just finished cleaning 250 rounds worth of fouling out of my steyr from the PPOH course today. As VP said, lots of fun. Also useful and excellent value. It is impossible to teach everything about personal protection in a couple of short courses, but this one certainly hit a lot of the high spots. ...

Bicycle Carry

I use a Kahr PM9 in a pocket holster, laying grip up and to the strong side, in the center pocket of my jersey. What amounts to a modified SOB carry. Not the fastest or cleanest presentation, but a whole lot better than nothing.

If you wear a camelback it is even better.

I had a good look at the sign while sitting in Pizza hut (and carrying). It did not mention unlicensed. There was some microscopic type in one corner I could not read, but other than that, just words to the effect that carrying where alcohol was sold or consumed was a felony. Definitely a new sign. ...

I'm a newby on this forum, but a life member of the NRA since 1978. This stuff was introduced way back in the early clinton administration (or maybe under Carter). I recall writing to my congressman about it.

Nothing new under the sun.

new alcoholic Beverage sign

I am familiar with the "unlicensed carry" sign and the 51% sign. This last weekend I noticed two separate cases (in a pizza hut and a convenience store) of a different sign, to the effect that it is unlawful to carry weapons where alcohol is sold or served. Is this a power grab by the Alco...

The seminar was excellent. Not a cookbook, but material I could use to develop a plan that I have confidence in.

Thanks, Charles and Derek.

Can anyone recommend a range in the Fredericksburg (or Kerrville) area?

Thanks
