Some posters here missed the part about the landlord not RENEWING the lease. He isn't apparently being kicked out in mid lease - so lawsuits mentioned early in the thread are not an option.

A landlord can decide to not renew someone's lease for any reason. That's his right, even if we all disagree with the apparent stated reasons. My wife and I own a place we rent. It would be my right no tell a tenant that I am choosing to not renew their lease.

I think it's sad that there are so many calling for the original poster to shirk his financial responsibilities and force the landowner to evict them.
