Holy crap Vanilla, you're coming up on a year!!!
There is obviously something not right. You need to be phone the phone with them finding out what is going on behind the scenes with your application cause that's far far outside the norm.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Applied and did all paperwork and range quals on 7/24. Print pending as of this AM on 8/26. No too shabby, Texas. Love my state.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I agree wholeheartedly. Proud to say that I have NEVER EVEN ONCE arrested anyone for simply possession of a gun.
I have arrested those for USING a gun when they committed an offense but not for simply having it.
Hierarchy as if pertains to a criminal
Justice theory called "federalism". Federalism is the legal definition of how laws are arranged in a chain of command of sorts. Ex: local ordinances are under state laws. If they conflict with state law then state law supersedes. If the state law is in conflict with federal law then federal law supersedes. If federal law is in conflict with the Constitution then the Constitution supersedes. Therefore, the carrying of arms should always be protected.
However...there are some REALISTIC limitations on Constitutional rights. Before you get your tail feather ruffled let me please explain one. First Amendment. You can lawfully say whatever you want. Freedom of Speech. But you CANNOT yell "fire" in a crowded theatre. While you are technically speaking when you yell "fire" you are unlawfully doing so. Same thing with arms. There are lawful limits on HOW you carry them. Not lawful limits on owning them. For this reason I am completely against any NFA laws. NFA laws are clearly unconstitutional prima facie. Because they deal with ownership. Not action.
So. In other words. Limits are fine as long as they don't have the effect of BANNING. the Heller decisions was 100% right. Any officer of the law or the court that says otherwise should have their BAR or
PID number removed from the state of Texas.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Sure. Most of you have had an NCIC and county check. Asked for child support. Done a few 21 database search.
But you've not had a TRUE background check unless you've had a lifestyle poly. Talked you your neighbors. I reviewed your boss and coworkers IN PERSON. ran your credit. Talked to your
Mortgage holder. And also had all that fine on your spouse and any child that lives with you over age 18.
Then you'll know what a background check is.
What they do for a LTC is a cursory review of databases and a few mail outs. That's it ladies and gentlemen.

Re: "Waiting Room"
For the record, I have seen lots of comments on this forum about the words "background check". It is NOT a background check unless it is an SSBI or an MSBI.
If you know what an SSBI is then you know what a background check is. If you don't then you likely have never really had a background check.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Incidentally, in case you didn't know. Each and every one of you are also now on the "rap back" list and also in VI Cap.
In a nut shell, because you've applied for a Texas LTC any time you are arrested or ticketed or anything else where they run either your DL or your LTC through AFIS, NCIC, or TX CIC you are flagged as an LTC holder, applicant, or former holder. Yes. Even former licensees are in there for life!
Basically when a licensee or applicant or former licensee is in contact with a law enforcement agency the record is identified. When you get a ticket obviously nothing happens. When you get arrested however your license is immediately computer identified and sent to the state as a possible suspension or revoke. They DO NOT take any action that is final until you are final convicted and the court of record is verified.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Fairly sure you are wandering why a licensed officer is applying for a LTC. Well, to be honest it is because that way I don't have to get something called a department letter every time I want to buy a weapon. I am on the "rap back" list and don't like explaining every time I buy something to my department (especially since they carry my retired commission). Lol.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Applied for LTC on July 24th with wife.
We to the academy and graduated Aug 1994 in MS
Worked as a full time officer there until Sep 2001 and then recalled to active duty after 9/11 to USAF
Got off voluntary extended active duty in Dec 2007 and transferred peace officer license to TX
Recalled again in 2012 and sent to Iraq again.
Now medically retired from USAF and Texas retired peace officer as if 2013. Had license voluntarily suspended while gone so that I wouldn't have to do my required state mandates training hours while deployed.
Now back full time with my normal civilian job at USAA and love it. Wife works here too which is kind of odd sometimes. Lol.
