It depends. If you have to resubmit anything then by their statute, they now have 180 days to process. Not that the original 60 day statute held them accountable in any way. Hopefully they won't throw you in the take your time pile.Nick_2316 wrote:UPDATE: They Just updated my status online (11/04/2016) and now Background pending and Fingerprints pending!!!! any idea how long that takes?!Nick_2316 wrote:I put my birthday instead on the completion date and had to resubmit the corrected CHL100
I had confirmation of submission on 10/13/16 and have yet to have status update on my LTC online status and its 11/2/16?
what the heck is the hold up? did they pull me from all processing or what happened?
Im kinda worried about it?

Re: "Waiting Room"
They used to require an in state 8 hour LTC training class but when the started the non resident licenses they take whatever your state offers. They only charge $60 too. I can think of some drawbacks though. There is no photo on the card they give you and there will always be the uneducated law officer that doesn't know that it is a legal LTC card and will challenge you on it. No offense to any law officers. I'd probably question it myself. I just wanted it until Texas decides I'm not a criminal and sends me one from my home state. Maybe I'll get it before the AZ one expires.Thumms wrote:AnxiouslyWaiting wrote:Reciprocal licensing. Texas acknowledges chl/ocw/Ltc ect. from other states. Many states (including Texas) issue to applicants from other states(as long as requirements are met). Some state qualifying criteria is less strenuous compared to others.
I'm no instructor or LEO by any means, so if I'm wrong please feel free to set me straight.
So you use the classroom training certification form from your Texas CHL class for an Arizona license? It seems like a big loophole that Texas would filter out somehow, but maybe not.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I didn't report it initially because it isn't supposed to exist. I never would have guessed that I would have to collect documentation on something I was wrongfully accused of 20 years ago and was supposed to be erased like it never happened. I guess no one ever told IAFIS so now I'm back to square one but the amount of squares just doubled. I filed for an Arizona CCW after I kinda gave up on Texas. I bet they kick it back too.Thumms wrote:I'm in a similar boat. I was informed via mail exactly 90 days from the day they received all my initial documents, that my application was referred to the medical advisory board for review. Then 2 days after that, I got the forms from the MAB for my doctor to fill out asserting that I'm not crazy and am able to safely use and store firearms.Rixuneaux wrote:Not sure what's going on with our justice system but I finally found out why it is taking over 100 days to even find out why I haven't received my license yet, even after 2 phone calls and 3 emails to the DPS. They said my fingerprints showed an arrest for bad checks in Dallas from 2007. So, I drove 2 hours to Dallas and paid to have certified background checks (both felony and misdemeanor) run on me that came back squeaky clean to prove to them I'm not a criminal. So I emailed all of that in and sent another email requesting an email response to tell me if there are anymore hoops I have to jump through without waiting another 100 days to do so. They just sent me the generic canned email as a response so I guess I'm in for the 180 day wait now. I'm really starting to feel like I got pulled out of line for a full cavity search!
My doc was out of town for three weeks, so that caused nearly a month delay. On Oct 14th, DPS received the approval letter from the MAB.
After two phone calls and three emails, they still won't tell me if there's anything else holding up my app, and won't confirm nor deny that "since I had a medical flag" placed on my file from day one, they automatically stopped all work on the rest of my background check until I cleared the MAB hurdle. They will only say that my "file is being processed" and that "they have 6 MONTHS FROM THE DAY THEY GET ALL 'SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS' IN HAND!!!!!"
That sounds to me like they can blow us off 90 days for EACH flag they decide to place on our apps. And could in effect take over a year to process applications that require multiple supporting documents.
I have two ancient arrests for which both cases were dropped before ever going to court, and I listed them on my app with details but not case numbers since they were 8 and 15 years old. So I have a feeling I'll be getting yet another letter asking for case numbers and copies of something from the courts... Which will be nearly impossible for the 15 year old case from CA.
I also make monthly payments to Nevada for ancient back child support. But I am in compliance and have been for over a decade. So I bet I'll get another demand for proof of that too.
Did you list the arrest on your initial application or did they find it on their own? Did they send you a letter requesting the info you sent the DPS? or did you also do that on your own?
I don't mind jumping through hoops, I just think that they should be able to tell you quickly via a phone call that there are multiple holds on your app, and tell you what they are so you can get the documentation quickly.
Keep us posted on your progress!

Re: "Waiting Room"
Well, I've already called twice and emailed three times. The last time I called and the last time I emailed I asked for someone to please contact me as to why my wife and 8 friends got theirs in 3 weeks and I'm still waiting. That was a month ago and never heard a peep. So, I just assumed I donated $140 to the DPS Policeman's ball and prayed that I wouldn't fall through the cracks with Arizona.guard5 wrote:I just kept hitting them with emails, and i specifically quoted from their faq, about after 60 days you should receive something in the mail, if something else is needed. It is on their own website, so they kinda have to respond to it, at least thats what it seemed to me.Rixuneaux wrote:So, there is still hope? I'm at 96 days with Texas, so I gave up. Although I am not all green on the site, maybe they just wanna take their time to update.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Well, I'm coming up on 90 days and It looks like everyone else is getting theirs around 3 weeks. I've called twice to see if there was a problem, and requested that someone contact me. They just unload the canned answer. I've emailed twice requesting the same and haven't heard a peep. I have no criminal history, lived here for 2 years and don't have a John Smith kinda name. I sent off my paperwork to Arizona today for a non-resident CWP and I bet I have a license to carry from them before anyone admits that there was a glitch and I fell through the cracks at Texas DPS. I'd much rather have one from my home state, but maybe it will show up about the time the AZ one expires.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I don't think that the quick turnarounds are the exception anymore. My LTC class consisted of nine other people besides myself, one being my wife, who of coarse has changed addresses as much as me. Two of the men had been arrested when they were younger. I haven't even had a speeding ticket in 15 years, and everyone but me received their plastic in 3 weeks or less. Tomorrow will actually be 66 days for me. I just can't figure it out. Can't get any info other than "it's processing" from the DPS either.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I probably will at the 90 day mark. I waited until the 60 day mark to contact the DPS (standard email reply, "Statute allows 60 days blah blah") in spite of the fact the other 9 people I took the class with have had theirs for a month and a half now and it's already been over 60 days. If others have waited that long, I guess I can too.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Even though it's moving faster for the newer applicants, there are still those of us who are passed 60 days and I assume, on our way to 90 days or more. I guess they use our folders to stabilize their wobbly desk so they can process the new ones faster.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Paperwork done 01/10/16
Fingerprints done 01/16/16
Then I waited on taking the class with a group from my church on 07/16/16 (should have just gone in January)
My wife does everything the week of the class on 7/16 and got her license 2 weeks later, so I'll just have to hide behind her in the mean time.
I finally called today and they said, "everything is received and processing."
There really is no rhyme or reason to the waiting game. We both sent our class completion in the same time, and my wife gets hers in 10 days and I'm still waiting at almost 60 days.
