Re: Punk gets some Justice
The way it looks to me is the writer of the article was trying to summarize to get a brief description of the event as a teaser in the first sentence. That draws the readers attention to the things that went on for those that skim read the headline and first couple of sentences of articles as a lead in and will hopefully hook them into reading the rest.

The clerk managed to hit the robber twice, once in each thigh, as the masked man escaped. Stafford L. Jones, 29 of Waco, was identified as the alleged robber and is being treated for gunshot wounds.
It happened about ten Tuesday morning at the Lake Stop Convenience store near the Bosque County side of the Lake Whitney Dam. A man described as about 5-10 wearing a t-shirt, red shorts and a red ski mask entered the store. The would be robber did not count on the fact that the man behind the counter was armed after having been beaten severely in another robbery back in 2006. The store clerk began firing as the robber attempted to come over the counter. The would be robber fled in a silver Ford Taurus, but was stopped about a mile from the FM 933, Highway 22 intersection by Hill County deputies.
I'm just reading it different I guess.
