You've just now gone over 60 days. With the known delays, you can't expect it to be on time. Patience is a virtue. ;-)

But, if you just HAVE to call, the number is listed here http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... sindex.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; at the bottom of the page.

nils wrote:I spoke to someone over at DPS Austin today, and they said that my application had been processed completely, with the exception of my Harris County background check....she said that she had tried to contact the county concerning the status of the BC, and never got a call back....how is this possible?? I bought my new carry weapon 2 weeks ago (sweet Colt Defender with custom grips) :fire , and it only took 1 minute to complete the BC then....my question is this: How is it possible for me to purchase a deadly weapon in less than 2 minutes, but it takes the DPS guys almost three months to do the exact same thing? :ack: Why isn't a phone call sufficient concerning the BC for the CHL when it's perfectly fine for purchasing a weapon? Can someone please explain this to me??
The background checks for CHL are MUCH more extensive than for a NICS check. The NICS checks to make sure you don't have a felony background. The CHL checks go to state and county and also check for back taxes, child support, etc.
