OK, seriously, we have taken this tread WAY off topic (me included.) Let's get back to the OP's original question.
For me, I think most folks are just trying to help. While not everyone has a legal background, many do know pretty well what will happen in some situations.
But, anyone taking information from an Internet forum should take it with a grain of salt unless you know who the person posting is an expert in the field and you explicitly trust their information and advice.

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
Yes, but like driving, points accrued remain on the record for a period of three years from conviction date. Let's see, you joined April 2008, so you have over a year before any of your points start to drop off. Better be careful!!03Lightningrocks wrote:I would like to remind the mods that points are periodically erased from your driving record.Keith B wrote: Breaking them is kinda like getting a a traffic ticket, you lose points each time. Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
Well, just remember, we help those that help themselves. It is the member's responsibility to abide by the rules. Breaking them is kinda like getting a a traffic ticket, you lose points each time. Get enough speeding tickets and you lose enough points, you lose your license (aka banned.) Luckily that rarely happens as most of our members generally mind their P's and Q's, but it can.03Lightningrocks wrote:I see the mods responsibilities in a whole different way. To me it is the mods job to make sure I don't make somebody so mad that they look me up and punch me out. They have my back, in other words. If I say something that a mod feels crosses the line around here, I have no problem with them deleting my post. I have a very assertive personality and I am well aware that I can go too far at times. Sometimes I post things that come across more vindictive than I meant them to. In these cases, the mods save me from myself.
All we ask is that you do your best to follow the rules and don't make our jobs any harder than they already are with 6000+ members to monitor.

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
While this doesn't happen as much in the public forum as in PM, it has happened. Most of the time the post is deleted and the issue moved to PM with the OP.03Lightningrocks wrote:Other than your first sentence, I am not sure what your response has to do with my post. I haven't witnessed anyone attacking a mod around here.
The quesiton is, when are you going to start?? (j/k)03Lightningrocks wrote:On the contrary, I see major sucking up most of the time. Heck, just look at this thread. If the mods aren't feeling tingles by now, they never will.

Seriously now.
Yes it is a lot of reading. I confess that in the beginning I had the time to help new shooters learn about arms, range time, gear & carry. One of the mods did the math a few weeks ago. During the day & evening we have to read & if necessary deal w/ a post a minute. At most there are 3 of us on the board at a time.
Thank you for the compliment.

It is a lot of work, but making it a friendly, educational and useful forum is worth it, especially when we have the great members we have that do their best to follow the rules and appreciate the venue.
