I think most of my friends are decent people, but some I have not seen since highschool so I don't trust them with the knowledge of what I do and do not do about guns. A place like this is a little different. Just about everyone here at least likes firearms (or understands their usage), and most people on this board own at least one. So this group has a little more leeway in knowing what I do and do not have around my house.
Funny you mention this. Went to my wife's 30 year reunion a couple of weeks ago. We both graduated from the same small-town high school, so I know a lot of her friends in her class.

While there, I was talking to one of the ladies from her class that is a nurse. She casually mentioned the fact that she frequently had to walk to the car late at night and needed a way to protect herself. A little more discussion and she made the comment she had taken a CHL class. We kind of moved off to the side from the others and she told me she had taken the class about a week earlier (I know her instructor there in our hometown/state) and she had gone and gotten a S&W 642. :thumbs2:

We talked for about another 20 minutes and I gave her some pointers on things to watch for and tips on situational awareness and she advised that her instructor had mentioned these things too, but the reenforcement helped set them in her mind.

Toward the end of the conversation she asked how often I carried. I told her that I carried as often as I was allowed to by law/work. She then said 'Well, since you are in slacks and a polo shirt, you must not be carrying now.' I casually turned my back to her where only she could see, pulled my polo shirt tight at the waist at 4 o'clock and said 'Glock 26 in a Crossbreed holster'. Her eyes got pretty big and said, 'OK, I have to go get Kevin (her husband) and you HAVE to convince him he needs to get his CHL if you can hide it that well!!' Kevin was always a hunter, so I knew there was no issue about guns, just needed to prompt him a little. That lead to another 20 minutes of talk and discussion and I understand he signed up for class the following week.

Bottom line, I normally enjoy class reunions, but for some reason this one was the best one ever!!!!!!

Re: Gun-related posts to Facebook

A thing to remember about Facebook and other forum/blog sites is that trolls are rampant. I have found them on open Facebook groups, newspaper and television comment threads, etc. We watch this site VERY closely for any trolling and squash them ASAP.

So, just like anything you get or see on the Internet, take it with a grain of salt unless you know and trust the source.
