I don't believe there are any that Illinois is accepting. They have some pretty tough certification requirements like 16 hours of training by a Illinois State Police certified instructor. If there are any, they are at least not listed on www.handgunlaw.us. The vehicle carry piece is good though, at least it's progress toward some form of reciprocity and acknowledgement.oohrah wrote:Texas accepted IL CCW w/o reciprocity. IL will only recognize states whose laws are substantially similar to IL (currently only 2 or 3). However, under the IL CCW law, any person licensed in their home state can concealed carry in their vehicle (no more disassemble and lock in the trunk transport).

Re: Reciprocity Map
MN & WI honor permits from all states. However, Texas does not have a reciprcity agreement with those two states, so Texas does not honor a MN or WI permit.TomsTXCHL wrote:I can't find what the difference is between "Honors TX Permit" (yellow) and "Reciprocity with TX" (green). Can someone explain, and/or maybe add an explanation to Post #1.

Re: Reciprocity Map
Well, they kind of are. There is no formal reciprocity agreement with Iowa and Texas. We have always honored their licenses. And a couple of years ago Iowa opened up to honor all other states licenses.gdanaher wrote:The Texas DPS page still shows that Iowa is Unilateral. It's been years now. Who is wrong?
So, since Texas really doesn't have a formal agreement other than what was put in place for us to honor theirs, it is still a unilateral agreement.

Didn't miss it, just didn't list it. Still not automatic.Jumping Frog wrote:You missed the "or":Keith B wrote:Doesn't appear to be 'automatic'. The agreement must be negotiated.
"or shall issue a proclamation that a license issued by the other state is recognized in this state"
Sometimes Texas has a reciprocity agreement, sometimes a unilateral proclamation is issued.
I haven't read the fine print of WI law. If there are licenses issued with an NICS check, then that would be a block.
They do reqire a NICS for their license. http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2011/re ... cts/35.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; See section 175.60 (9g)

For purposes of this subsection, "background check" means a search of the National Crime Information Center database and the Interstate Identification Index maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Also, they will issue a license without a NICS check, so maybe that is in contention. Just guessing.

Wisconsin honors Texas, but Texas has never signed a reciprocity agreement with Wisconsin, so we don't honor theirs.

Re: Reciprocity Map
That map is a .jpg file. If you are running windows you can save it to your computer by right-clicking the map and choosing the 'Save Picture As' option. I would suggest you ask permission of the OP to use this for anything other than personal use though (like for use in a CHL class presentation.)superchief wrote:Is there a web site that maintains a map (like above) in a power point or jpg format?

First off, welcome to the forum.LisaPinky wrote:Look at me... I didn't read the above before I posted. Oops... My bad.
This just changed at the first of the year and Iowa now honors ALL states CHL's.
See http://www.handgunlaw.us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as a good source for the laws in other states too.

Re: Reciprocity Map
They do not issue CHL's in most of the American Territories, so they don't honor our CHL's. Puerto Rico does, but they can't find who they supposedly have reciprocity with. (See http://handgunlaw.us/states/guam.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/puertorico.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.) They also have much stricter gun laws in Guam. Info on the other territories can be found here http://www.handgunlaw.us" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Trele6 wrote:Curious about American Territories, like Guam, Puerto Rico, etc. Can we use our CHL while on vacation at these places?
Thanks,

It has been discussed in various threads on the forum. The search engine will help you find a lot of the answers. Here are a few of threads:Papabear37 wrote:I'm curious as to why some states recognize our CHL and others don't. Any thoughts on the subject?
