in 1995, Trotter voted “no” on narrowly-defeated legislation to allow Illinois residents to carry concealed firearms. Illinois is the only state in the nation where citizens have no concealed carry rights. Two years later, he voted “present” on a measure that ultimately passed both the Senate and the House that would have reduced the penalty for getting caught with a concealed firearm. That bill died through amendatory veto by then Gov. Jim Edgar
I guess it's OK for only senators to carry in Illinos, he chaims he was carrying it on his job as a security guard and forgot; and he is running for a senate seat

This supports my theory on the mentally-ill politicians. Even if he was a security guard, what kind of sane person would carry a .25 caliber? :banghead:

There will be a fight, still, but there are a lot of pro-gun forces in Illinois. It really is a state held captive by a leftist Chicago mafia and a city full of utterly stupid voters. Unfortunately that model has now been transplanted to the national level. But there is a good chance for the 2A in Illinois now. The sound you hear coming from that "Stop Concealed Carry Coalition" is the sound of panic.
Sounds like the tables are changing but a lot of the anti-gun people seem to be coming from COOK County which is 40% of the population of the state and lots of income (Chicago)

Has Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn Accepted Defeat on Concealed Carry?
Today, the Gov.’s remarks seem to reflect a resignation to that inevitability.
In a statement, the Gov. said that he would work with the General Assembly on a concealed carry bill provided that the law includes “reasonable restrictions,” such as prohibiting the mentally ill from carrying concealed firearms (something that’s already illegal under federal law).

Isn't that going to prohibit most Cook County politiicians from getting a license? :evil2:

Re: New Coalition Forms to Stop Concealed Carry in Illinois

You have to remmeber, there is Illinios, and then there's Cook County, which just happens to sit in Illinois. They are totally different on views. If you go to the central of southern part of the state the folks are many times big-time hunters and outdoors types. They hate the politicians in Springfield that come from Chicago and surrounding areas more than anyone.
